There is a long row of Rose of Sharon or althea that grows beside this retaining wall type of thing in the yard. I haven't always known this, but rose of Sharon will just grow/sprout in as long a line as you will let them. They even bloom different colors, which I think is very cool since nobody planted but a couple or 3 of them - and there are now at least 9. Anyway, I have watched hummingbirds (usually just 1 or 2) hit every bloom on one bush and then move to the next, and on all the way down the line.

They are good bloomers once they get going and apparently have enough juice to keep the hummingbirds coming back all summer. I see them trying to suck some stuff out of my blooming plants and I always feel sorry for them then because I don't think they are going to get anything out of an impatiens and just a teeny bit out of that small 4 o'clock flower. I see no way they can get even a sip from a purple coneflower (echinacea).

There is so dang much to do here I'm not about to start with the sugar water feeding but I do enjoy watching them cover that row of althea. We even have 2 huge double bloom althea (which I've been told is not that common), and even though I don't see where or how they get any sustenance from there they seem to love diving in and "drinking" there too.

I fell in love with that bush/tree a few years ago because my neighbor has one. I only found out the name of it this Spring. I really want one.

I promise you if she has let her's grow very long, there will be another right beside it....if a friend (or just a nice neighbor) wanted to get one of these that has grown up through the years in that line, I wouldn't mind at all! Especially since I know there would be another that would spring up to replace it. I've even had to chop down a couple that have come up in my flower beds. I let another 2 just stay. So I could also offer them some out of my flower beds since I've already seen 3 new ones growing up strong and healthy! gad They grow very fast and are quite hardy.

They root or sprout so easily you might want to just ask her if she has one (a volunteer) she would like to part with.

Was heading out the patio door to stoveblack the BBQ awhile ago but had to re-locate an Eastern Milksnake first... Guy was trying to shed his skin and it didn't seem to be working all that well for him. He can go rub up against the grasses and thistle out in the field beyond the fence, not the stuff on the patio... thank you very much.

I just woke up, and am about to make a second cup of tea.

I have to go pick up the baby in about an hour and a half, and bring him back here, where he will hang out with me all day. I plan on reading my book while he plays, and watching a movie or two.

My husband and I slept with our heads at the end of our bed last night, because we could smell the neighbor through the walls. My husband plans on writing the neighbor another note today. He is getting frustrated with the situation.

This morning Mia and I recharged my car air-conditioning. I worked and will be nice to have colder air again. Did it 5 years ago and it lasted that long, so hopefully the same thing will happen again this time. If not it is still cheaper than taking it in to a garage that does air.

Aeri, I think it comes down to I am too cheap to pay for something I can try to do myself. :) Having it done though is nice for those days when it is really humid. :)

I hear you! I do all kinds of stuff around here. Hubby's hands don't work well so sometimes he will talk me through it; other times it's a new project with the car that I've gotten the guys here to talk me through.

We haven't gone that route yet. My husband wrote him a letter today, and we are going to give him a week. If the problem continues to persist, then we will be contacting the landlord/social services, ect. I will post the letter my husband wrote in the I'm Frustrated thread in a few minutes.

This thread explains the situation - http://www.hipforums.com/forum/topic/475945-im-frustrated/

I dislike poisonous snakes... but even they have a place keeping rodents under control. Mice and their kin cause all kinds of damage, I'd rather have a few snakes, preferably non-poisonous, and a lot less pests. Now if it were a Copperhead or Rattler wanting to nest near the house or sheds. My response would be different... it would usually involve a shovel or some other implement of destruction. (I no longer have my pellet gun) If they were out in the woods I leave them be.

We've been low on money so for about a week I gave up my Powerade mixed with a Monster Energy Drink.

I went to pick up the usual 38 lbs of cat litter and 44 lbs. of cat food and it was all I could do to get the cat food into the cart, then into the car.

I was astonished at the difference in my body without my "Go-Go Juice".

I stopped by another store on the way home and got myself some because I still have to get the cat food from the car to the house, and then into the bin.

Just before dark two deer came by the house. Other than that momma and baby last week I hadn't seen the rest of the herd for over a week. These two were the other "mother" doe and one of her babies from last year. (the other baby turned out male and has been ostracized from the herd.)

This mother doe is still very pregnant. I hope she has her baby (babies) here near the house... should happen tonight/tomorrow morning or the next day.

We saw the deer in the backyard a couple of times over the weekend. There's a 6 pointer, a doe and a young deer.
