    Ah man...

You've got it so sideways Boozer. It's inconsiderate man! There is such a thing as ethnocentrism & nationalists by and large are guilty of it.

    Sorry Soul.
But have I misunderstood you in any way there?

    Anyway.
I have started my thread, so please feel free to post opinion and vote there as I have also started a poll.

That can be a very emotive issue of course.

    Anyway.
The Brexit Party are standing up for what is good for the UK.
Just as Trump is standing up for the US.

Brexit: Farage makes election promise if deadline ignored

    In todays latest opinion poll.
    Good news! :

Mr Farage’s party was the most popular party garnering an impressive 26 percent of the votes which puts it ahead of Labour’s 22 percent.
The Opinium poll asked voters how they would cast their ballots at the next Westminster election. The Tories are trailing in third place with just 17 percent of the votes.

The Lib Dems are following closely behind on 16 percent and the Greens are on 11 percent according to the poll carried out for The Observer.

The results suggest eurosceptics will not abandon Mr Farage’s party at a general election after his triumphant victory in last week’s European elections.

The Brexit Party has managed to increase its backing by two points since the last Opinium survey two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Labour and the Tories have seen their support plummet by seven and five points respectively.

And trans-national institutions can do the same thing

The UK is made up of three nations – Wales, Scotland and England (four if you take in Northern Ireland).

There are four national groups making up Spain - Castilian, Basque, Catalan and Galician.

The Netherlands is made up of four lands Belgium has three official languages and the north mainly speak French and the south Walloon.

The United States is made up of 50 states (the last only joined in 1959)

The European Union is made up of 28 countries.

So in a football match between the national teams of Scotland and England are you cheering on Britain?

What about in a football match between Liverpool and Spurs are the Liverpudlians and Londoners been anti-nationalist for cheering on differing parts of the nation?

Nationalism is not a form of government – again you clearly have little knowledge of political thought have you done any study into this subject?

That makes no sense what so ever – first there is anarchy and Anarchy one is a form of government and one not, and you could have several forms of central global government its desirability or not would presumably depend on that.

You would need to explain why that wasn’t desirable

But even within one ‘nation’ there are going to be differing views as to what is best for the country and many are likely to have differing ideal and what is dear to them.

Are people to be forced to have only one view?

I love my country and the people living here I also love the planet and the people living on it and if people think the same then globalism might be a better goal than nationalism.

    Where is this nationalism thread?

The problem with ‘nations’ is that they are fictions, they are not in a sense ‘natural’ at the base level the ‘natural’ level we are all human beings and there is less genetic diversity between us than many other species, including our nearest evolutionary relative, the chimpanzee.

Everything after that is a human construction such as language, there are only 135 language families in the world of which the two biggest are the Indo-European (of which English is just one example) and the Sino-Tibetan.

There have been multiple migrations and states, empires and nations have come and gone been created and disappeared

Someone might say they are ‘British’ but what does that mean? What makes a human being into a British person at birth and how does that make them so much different than someone born in France or Germany? If it is purely about geography then there is no real substantial difference, is it language well again that can be geography same with culture and as said there might be differing cultures and languages within on ‘nation’.

    So what is nationalism?

And since we are all humans why not globalism?

There is this by - Election in Peterbourah tomorrow, and it is looking like The Brexit Party could win it and give them a first MP
They are obviously going from strength to strength and I am so happy I joined the party for a very cheap £25.

Brexit Party to STORM Peterborough by-election: Shock graph shows Labour & Tories nowhere

Brexit Party to STORM Peterborough by-election: Shock graph shows Labour & Tories nowhere
PETERBOROUGH heavily backed Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party in last months European elections and this graph predicts voters will follow suit in tomorrows by-election.

In the European elections Peterborough voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Brexit party, securing 16,106 votes - more than twice that of runners up Labour.

Labour’s 7,272 votes were closely followed by the Lib Dems’ 6,491 votes.

The Brexit Party’s success in the EU polls has made Mr Farage’s party the clear favourites to win the upcoming by-election with bookmakers Ladbrokes having them in front with odds of 1-5.

Mike Greene, a local businessman who has switched support from the Conservatives, is the Brexit party’s candidate in the Peterborough vote, hoping to be the first party member to get to Westminster.

Ok so it’s still not clear why anyone would be supporting Brexit (other than the gullibility of those leavers that have posted so far) as every leaver argument has fallen flat

I mean the media have made a big thing about ‘those that have been left behind’ by right wing neoliberal policies (the rundown of industrial area and the effects of unnecessary austerity that have done such damage to public services for example). But why then would they be voting for neoliberals that support such policies and would happily get rid of such things as the NHS.

It’s been said that many regions where many people for Brexit are those that have benefited from EU development money take Wales – it currently receives around £680 million of EU funds every year and since 2007 EU projects have supported 229,110 people to gain qualifications, helped 72,700 people into work and created 36,970 jobs and 11,925 enterprises.

We maybe they think that once out of the EU this could be improved but neoliberals are usually not in favour of using public money for such projects believing the ‘market’ should be allowed to work such things out by giving tax cuts for the wealthy.

I mean in February of 2017, Plaid Cymru tabled an amendment to the Brexit Bill seeking assurances about future funding in Wales and it wasn't backed by the Conservatives.

So what is it that leavers think they ate going to get by leaving the EU?

LOL I would say taking the piss rather than jest.

You do realise these type of slogans are meaningless without explanation that stands up to scrutiny and NO leavers has so far been able to do that.

But are those views worthy of respect, do they stand up to criticism can they be explained in any rational and reasonable way?

    NO

Do you know what I think is insulting – it’s someone coming to a debating forum pumping out propaganda and myths and refusing to debate their views with any semblance of honestly?
