Those people do exist though. To people who are not interested in guns they see the people are really into guns. They see the signs posted, they see they NRA stickers. All of that is preparing for something the anti-gun people don't worry about. You are prepared to kill when they might not be. It's just how guns are. The gun owner will rationalize it and say they are a better potential killer in someway but the potential is still there. They have made their choice. Even though that choice means someone innocent could be killed by finding the gun, or a stray bullet they make the choice to protect themselves. It's odd to most of the world.

Personally every gun owner I have ever been around has had the water cooler talk about how if someone breaks in I know how easily I can kill him with this gun and now easy it would. I would do it this way. Some people really crave the adrenaline of a life or death gun situation and American law allows them have guns. Many gun owners do not but you are right just owning a gun is going to be a legal hassle if you ever go to court.

Okay. First thing to recognize is that's not a rifle in the photo (of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow). It's a sawed off (literally) 12 ga. shotgun.

 

I knew that was gonna be pointed out. I still want to learn to shoot a rifle.

 

I learned to shoot with my granddad's .22 single shot rifle. He ordered it from a Sears catalog when he was a kid. Cost him $5.
