Jeez dude, bury the thing. You backcomb em once to get the sizes right and to get them started, then you leave the comb alone. The hairs can't form their own knots if you keep brushing them. Backcombing only makes the frizzy tubes that can then eventually lock into dreads, it doesn't actually make the dreadlocks.

yarp. one lot of backcomb is enough. youll slow progress down if you do it more!

That is either a huge phone or you must be tiny.

    Edit: nevermind it's a tablet thing ><

yep! tablet takes way higher quality images, I'm using those images for a video at years mark with weekly increments. not to mention the video is much easier to put together on my tablet with the images already in their spot each week.
However it doesn't take away from the fact than I am smaller than most girls i know at 5'6 110 pounds. >.>
I've "grown" (haha) to like it, actually. If I had the opportunity to be bigger I don't think I'd take it.

edit- oh I got all natural residue free dreadlock shampoo in today finally ^.^ I've been using some stuff I got at the store, it just wasn't cutting it. So I ordered some of this online and it is amazing. There is also some tightening gel with aloe vera I am using dilluted 1/10 to water in a spritzer bottle. I got these products and the back comb I was using from knottyboy, I'm not sure how anyone here feels about them.

It's hard to judge the individual products that Knotty Boy or Dreadhead Hq etc sell because they don't actually make most of the products. They're not a shampoo or a soap company, most of their stuff is other soaps and shampoos that they've repackaged.

    I had no idea D:
I stuck to natural products anyway it says its safe for even mountain stream water on it.

I used to use KBoy tightening gel gunk stuff. Never liked it.. literally just felt like hair gel and any effect it may have had was washed out when I was my dreads!

I don't use any products anymore on my dreads, other than shampoo and lately, intensive conditioner

I would say you don't need anything that claims to tighten. You seriously just need a shampoo. Wash and dry and leave them alone. By all means experiment with the stuff you've bought, but don't worry about it's importance in the development of the dreads =]

so about those 3 I was thinking of dying white..
    round 1 complete
the roots haven't been touched so you cant tell which ones they are very well in this pic, but its the 3 under all the rest behind my left ear.
my sister went to school for this so I had her do the bleaching for me

(the one in the very back bottom corner on the left is unbleached despite what the roots look like in this shot)

I'm almost 8 inches on my longest dreads

I did round 2 about a week ago and im gonna go it once or twice more, then put some white "dye" in it (its more of an after bleach toner). Though i have had to condition them to help with their health through all the bleaching.. i couldnt imagine doing more than 3 oh god... especially ones 3 and 4 times longer than mine
