It's usually people my age who start showing signs of going all Daily Mail and saying "it weren't like this in my day!" Seriously, they're dropping like flies all around me:eek:

Maybe it's brainrot or something, I've often thought conservatism is the absence of thought rather than a specific condition of thought... Someone kill me if I ever start to drift towards the rightwing:eek:

It's a sad day when you realise you're too old to die tragically young:(

The best I can do now is to convince a few teenagers to top themselves:uhoh2:

I remember the Bulger case and saw the mock interviews on Thames tv of the Bulger boys facing up to the consequence of their crime. This was very shocking as it was very unusual for young kids to kill other kids. Nowadays I think we can say we have become sensitised toward killings by young people.
In my day, kids were innocent, now they have become like the children of the corn. Perhaps King had a vision of the future?

Another kid got stabbed in West Ham the other day. I wonder how many more kids will be killed in such a gruesome manner before Tony Blair decides to get a zero tolerance inforcement on the streets and impose life sentences for anyone carrying a knife. (Except knives that cannot lock. As by the law, anyone carrying a knife that doesn't lock, is not deemed illegal-apparently)

thats sad man ...........but would zero tollerance work ? reason i ask is law enforcement is their to be rebelled against is it not . example = our kids a spark working all types of shifts .....has screwdrivers and god knows what in his pockets their ( a moths paradise ) so he gets pulled over by some nugget copper (who persumes he"s guilty of a crime ) whilst he"s coming home one night or day from work forgetting he"s got whatever in his pocket........ gets arrested and has to go to court " IS THAT RIGHT ?

Only knives. Not any other sharp object. We must tackle knife crime by the balls. Crush them and slam the knife killers in jail for life where they will recieve the retribution of imprisonment and years of indignified torment. Now thats justice:cool:

Additional: The problem with the law, is it is often soft on young people so they get lighter sentences and often get off with a suspended sentence.

There are courses that young people can do to defend themselves against knife attacks. Disarming and restraining techniques. They often call it Street defence or something like that. I believe that once someone carries a knife for defense even, there is intention to use the knife if someone attacks them. Also I think using knives as self defence is a bit ott really. Considering London is nowhere near as rough as Brooklyn, Washington DC or New York.

However there is an increase of knife crime and tribal gang culture and our government should try to tackle it in the right way. Sometimes it may mean locking up for life. If that is what it takes and I believe this is what it has come too.

Our children need the help and discipline we had when we were a kid. These days, mothers no older than 17- I mean my sister who is in Turkiye has married and is only 23. My father says it is unacceptable. Atleast we both agree on something.

It is a lot easier to get a knife than a gun and a knife can be far more deadly than a gun. A gun could shoot the heart but the victim survives. A knife wound to the heart and it is curtains.

If I were in charge of this tacklement:

    My five pledges:
    1) More self defence training classes for kids who feel unsafe
    2) Life sentences Mandatory for anyone who carries a knife in a public place(Except knives that cannot lock)
3)More money into youth clubs and events for young people in deprived areas of London.
    4) Advertisement campaigns to get the message through to kids that knives are dangerous and can take a life
    5) More financial help and tax relief for burdened familys living on the poverty line.
    6) Sorry but thought I might add this: Zero tolerance approach.

    very interesting thread

the human race is falling prey again to class divide
and the wants of such a profit driven system,
capitalists dont care about the poor......

our youth are seeing the influence of what the world has to offer ,yet the working class and lower class
can not really gain what is out there..so in reaction
they react with anger and crime..as spoken of in this thread.

yes parents may be a problem, but if uneducated
and living in lower living standards then they will be unaware of a childs actions till to late...which is a sad crime
for this country and any other...

its time to act as said above..and.end a profit world,
share what is out there, educate our children, end class
divide and see the :complete: working together of all races.
to ensure the future of this world, for children to be safe and forward thinking aswell as free to feel.
yes end weapon problems not just on our street but
in the governments aswell.what they for if not to kill other
    humans....it is madness...

why in the so called year 2007 are children dying
we are aware ,war does not work.never did...really
but this is just my opinion, i am a socialist
so believe every human should live with equal
living standards whether your the judge,
or a loo cleaner....until, steps to this sort of thinking are placed into action,i see no future but
war, but fear, but power driven places such as the uk, u.a.s, driving our youth to despair again and again..
so maybe a whole change will do the human race some good...a new way of living on the planet..
    lovenpeace from saff

I think that there should be more politically driven songs. In the 80's we had a few numbers.

Anyway our youth of today are affectively evolving into adults whilst they are affectively children. Our Government has and is still doing much damage to the community and to our nation. If Gordon Brown gets in, our country will have one of the most highest youth crime rates in Europe. Already France, Germany and across to the USSR all frown down upon us for our lack of control over kids who have become violent offenders and are affectively being picked up by adult gangs like MDP and Peckham Boys as young fresh weapons for a generation of street war.

Tighter sentences, LIFE, 99 years in jail to any child or adult who carries a knife(Except knives that cannot lock and excludes all Scouts and Space Cadets)
What our country has become is nothing short of a huge pillow made of goose down. We are the most leniant country in the world. We should look at maybe reintroducing the death penalty. Some of our prisons still have the gallows(Believe it or not) Zero tolerance overall.

BUT: There are kids who need help. They are the ones who are assessed by the pre sentence reports. If special circumstances appear, a short spell in a specialised centre called Boot Camp. A teaching of manners, discipline and who get the chance to achieve great things academically and in specialised expertise like Carpentry, plumbing or playing a piano.

Our community lacks a BOOT camp. Perhaps we should look overseas for great inspiration?
