I guess I'll stick with more contemporary stuff since the beatles and the greatful dead are so obvious. I would say Phish and The String Cheese Incident are my top two bands.

Phish - because they inherited the greatful dead legacy and moved jam music forward and help make it explode the way it has today. Not to mention just their shear tallent and harmony.

The String Cheese Incident - again because they are crazy tallented and have good messages in their lyrics. Plus I've just seen 'em enough times close up to feel a pretty good connection with the boys. After I went a little crazy after a music festival I was in a hospital in Bolder, CO and there was a SCI poster signed by all the boys waiting there for me.

The Box Tops were a Memphis pop music group of the late 1960s. They are best known for the hits "The Letter," "Soul Deep" and "Cry Like A Baby," [IMG].
