noticed your signature pic pat =D im not into norwegian BM myself, unless im in a really bad mood. like swedish metal more, and all the max cavalera bands. but at least our BM puts us on the map. anything that does is good for a small country like norway. you should go to oslo in the easter some year, and visit the inferno festival.

    sorry for the off topic

I love Deathklok! The only death metal band I like, and it's not even a real one.

metal gives me a headache but I can appreciate it.
About the whole stereotype thing of dreadies...I find Im able to break the stereotype better by just being nice to people and by talking to people I wouldnt normally talk too based on appearances. For example, I struck up a convo while waiting in line at the store the other day with a woman who had ginormous fake boobs, bleached blonde hair, a fake tan, and crazy heels. At the end of our convo she actually complimented my cutoff jean shorts that had a purple peace sign on them that I painted on. lol. I think...instead of trying to go out of your way to look perfect it's better just to show that your genuine. * I dont mean this directly toward any of you* but I think Genuinety and sincerity has the power to break stereotypes. more so than attire.

i realized after i posted that i worded that badly but decided to go to bed intstead of fixing it.
i meant that its made me care less about peoples perceptions, rather than making sure i look good so theyll think better of me and all other dreadies they may encounter.
its not my fault if people are superficial and have preconceived notions or stereotypes about dreads. they can think whatever they want, and if my winning personality (lol) doesnt make them like me in spite of my hair, then fuck em.

Agreed. Actions and attitudes speak a hell of a lot louder than appearances.

i didn't change cos of my hair, my hair changed cause of me.

tho other people's perception of me changed cause of my hair, which goes to show how shallow some people can be.

yeah, people will always be shallow. but in the end, modifying my behavior to alter that perception for the better just makes me a better person. i shouldnt have to change to be percieved positive, but by doing it, i become even friendlyer

there was a psychology study done eons ago which studied peoples attitudes when role playing in a social context. It was interesting because once people put on certain attire such as a police uniform vs. a jail bird uniform regardless of there personal and occupational background....they acted out the role to the point where many were permanatley and emotionally scarred. For example....there was a kindergarden teacher who was given the role of prison guard. Out of uniform she was leniant upon the inmates...however, once she put on the uniform she became a beast! She would order the inmates to do horrible and degrading things. Now mind you....the inmates were just volunteers as well...but after a week of playing the role of an inmate and wearing the uniform [the study lasted 3 weeks] they became extremely passive and developed inferiority complexes. I saw video clips of the study and geeesh its nuts! Unfortunately, the psychologists that conducted the study lost their licenses afterward because it was deemed highly unethical....but onthe other hand it was a psychological breaklthrough in studying human behavior. So....how autonomous are you? Do you really think that your appearance governs how you should act? Does what your wearing really dictate who you are? Should societal expectations be a factor in how you behave according to your appearance? I dunno. Just interesting stuff.

yes very interesting. i remember hearing something about the study. hmmmm, i guess another question i should have asked is do you think your behavior, mannerisms, etc. has changed since you started your locks?
