Yes there is some kind of moderator, but this kind of moderator doesn't consider this thread particularly distruptive considering almost everyone who has replied to this thread has seen right through the original poster and has responded accordingly with light hearted banter. If a thread was genuinely disruptive and there was no other option, I might close it, but I don't think this one is....

The thing is, this person is not really Russian, nor do I think he is actually a racist, he is just a troll, one of the many internet idiots who come to the forum to try to get a rise out of people, to bait them and provoke hostile reactions. Almost everyone who has replied has seen him for exactly that, has not been offended and has treated him with general derision or had a bit of friendly banter over the matter.

As for sticking up for the country, I'm not a nationalist. I don't believe that accidents of birth, or lines drawn on maps make us better people or are things of which I should be proud. I'm happy that I live a comfortable life in a safe country surrounded, on the whole, by friendly people. There are many things I like about Britain, there are also many things I dislike. But I'm not proud of it, I don't feel the need to wave the flag or sing the anthem or the Queen's praises. I'm a citizen of the world, a human being, I value humanity, kindness, compassion and good people wherever they happen to live. Also I would not say that because I was born here I have more of a right to criticise this country than anyone else. People should have the right to criticise where criticism is due, and praise where praise is due.
