Actually, yes, it does have much to do with feminism. The nuclear family has been attacked by many feminists as "oppressive" and feminists have been very active in promoting alternative lifestyles.

I think it's wrong to characterize most young men who father children and then leave as negligent and deadbeats. There are certainly those that are inherintly irresponsible, but I think the fact of the matter is that many of these young men are being used by the women to sire children, because the mother sees the child as a means to an income, or because the woman has some sort of psychological problem. It's the men that are usually being thrown or driven away. But we still live in a society where there's a double standard against men; men are supposed to be able to handle things better than women, endure psychological and emotional abuse without complaint; and if they do try to get away from it, then it's they who are considered to be at fault, to be deadbeats and lowlifes and the like.

Men have definately been shut out of the family structure because of stigmas that sit in front of them from neglectful fathers of the past. Men are tought from a very young age as children the wrong way which has little to do with their actual needs for learning as boys and so are unequipt with propper tools in actual real life experiences.

For example as iijjamn has stated """ we still live in a society where there's a double standard against men; men are supposed to be able to handle things better than women, endure psychological and emotional abuse without complaint; and if they do try to get away from it, then it's they who are considered to be at fault"""

The way that boys are tought (school children in public schools) sit still, raise your hand to speak, don't push, don't be roudy, don't show too much emotion etc....Fisrt of all boys learn better in motion if you stunt that you stunt their development all teh way around. Later on in life when they get out and are expected to hold down a family tehy may not know how to deal with the rush of emotion and also not knowing how to resolve conflicts properly and communicate because we have hushed them for so long..obviously won't have the tols to do the same in their own families. If we want societe to be different we have to look at men and women as different learners. We learn differently. Not one better then the other but the cfariculum needs to change or we'll have more generations of men/boys who act out later what they needed to act out as they grew to learn. Boys need positive men in their lives. Good visual examples of it happening and actual hands on actions to pull from. Girls are more emotional and will make connections to emotions from visual things without the experience. Not that girls dont need hands on experience we are jsut more verbal and visual and emotinal. Boys remember experiences with hands on things, they pull from that when in hard situations...to make choices.

All these remarks from both sides about well women do this and men do that bla bla...no...it's everyones fault we are in the state were intoday in terms of broken homes. Put value on whats important and you'll find yourself valued. put values back in families and your find your family valuable...to societe.
