I don't really know how old these are. I don't remember the last time I brushed my hair... these just started to form as my hair grew out from less than 1 cm, which was how short I cut it in... December of 2007. There is still a lot of loose hair but I don't mind. I'm using the patience method, and I'm in no hurry... I've got the rest of my life for them to form (-:
