'Hippie' is really a term that relates only to the movement of the '60s and '70s. There might not be 'hippies' around, because that's specific to just that era, but there will always be people who believe in environmentalism, activism, whatever you're into.
Hehe, well what I was saying there was that, if we worry about what our traditional, conservative society thinks of us (as you were saying we should), aren't we conforming to some ideal as well? You're missing my point. Everyone has some ideal that they live by, and more often than not it will happen to resemble some sort of stereotype. And I was noting above that hippydom as it was endorsed non-conformity, before it itself blossomed into a fad. I could even say you are "conforming" to a non-comformist ideal, the way this logic is being presented. If you want to think I'm conforming to an ideal, fine, I just happen to like a lot of stuff that tends to be classified under "hippy" or whatever you'd call it, I think of it as coincidental, and I don't care what label is applied to me. It's fun to joke around with, that's all. Lighten up man, this whole argument's sorta trivial.
Like I said, act as "Hip" as you want... but, why label yourself as "hippy"? Why completely overtake the stereotype uppon your persona, while you can just be yourself... A individual that likes "hippy" stuff... but not necesary, a "hippy"?
Hey, well, I've no problem with your particular point there, I see your point. I dig, man As I said, I don't proclaim myself as a hippy, I am what you said, an individual who likes hippy stuff. Other people are who apply the label to me, and I don't take it seriously.
Well, so put, I can directly relate to you. I also seem to like "hip stuff", and peopel do tend to label me as a "hippy"... and just as you, I do not take it seriously. My comments are addressed more towards the people who choose to label themselves as "hippies" .
Look. I kinda don't give a fuck if there are many hippie comunitys or not. I'm 95% that I'm the only one here in a distance of 6 km. And yes, I live in a city. I'm just me, and I do whatever I want. You don't know how I'd love to personally meet another hippie; Gosh, I'd do almost everything! Just because the great movement is over, do I HAVE to live like an ordinary citizen, everyday the same routine, allways complaining how life sucks? I'm so different... I'm not rich, this year I worked so fucking much on my music lessons, but I'm happy! I'm still here to watch the sunset and go to the beach, walk in the grass, sleep under a tree and listen my favourite music. I'm still here to make people happy. Man, life is so short... live it!
Hell yes it's over. This is a different time. You know, a lot of the "hippies" that are floating around now are just burnt out potheads. I see a lot of that. Their mind is fried to the point beyond return.
