I've never seen one of those planes either. I don't believe it.

Some of us down here need reminding about bridge icing because it doesn't happen very often. My ice and snow pics are from the mountains, not near the urban areas that get so little.

It definitely sounds like an expensive project compared to just sitting a motorcycle or police car with a radar gun, That's for sure. And we saw lots of state troopers around, especially en route to the tracks. Always "Jefferson County Sherrif" or very similar. Jefferson anyway, like in every state. =p it was cute the old black and white cars, reminds me of the old movies etc. like Beverly Hills Cop hehe.

I even got my picture taken next to one of them somewhere on my camera roll. I was like all sneaky and walked up to it for a photo no one else was game enough I remember saying "come on guys, what are they going to do? They can't beat us down and shoot us at a NASCAR race, we're walking around drunk I think we fit right in". :D well, I don't think they'd have shot us for a couple of photos of ID seen the Sherrif there I'd have probably asked to have a photo with him too or riding in the car. :D

One of the funnier moments came from the guys that started annoying us half way but during the second morning at Talladega there was one guy stumbling, falling over, rotten drunk at like 8am and our friend said "Geezuz fuckin A Christ MATE! You've come out wayyy too hard!" And he just looked at us with glossy eyes and everyone around us laughed they knew then we aren't from around here but we have sense of humor. :D and then that's the day I saw another "team Germany" but they were adorned up in the colors and flags etc. I had a small flag I wore out my hat or in my bag sometimes.

It's quite ugly in reality. I'll try to get to my photos of the parade we saw with them all. Just off my canon so they're like 20megapixels.

To me, the car looks fragile, but it could run all afternoon above 200 miles an hour. That was before they started the restrictions at Daytona and Talladega that slowed the cars down for safety reasons.

The restrictor plate was brought into NASCAR In the late eighties to stop what they are doing now at super speedways. To stop 200+mph and to stop the cars from getting into the catch fence.

NASCAR has just announced a new rule for this year. There'll be a new finish line at race tracks, the placement will vary from track to track. Once the cars get the green flag on a GWC restart, once leader crosses this line it will signal a valid restart. I'm thinking on ovals this line will be either at the entry of turn three, the apex of 3n4 or just off of 4.

The only history I need to touch up on with NASCAR is really the old drivers. I know the big names etc.

    Richard Petty
    Earnhardt
    Cale Yarborough
    Donnie and Davie Allison
    Benny Parsons
    Junior Johnson
    Fireball Roberts
    Alan Kulwicki

And I know the drivers from about the mid 90s on up fairly well.

I know lots of older tracks and I've seen them race on TV at the Rockingham NC. I heard that's actually coming back possibly. Needs a lot of work though lol.

North Wilkinsboro is a track that eluded me from watching so that's upsetting. I wish one day there'll be a big dvd collection of Jeff Gordon's wins or something, full replays so I could watch old tracks etc.

They have that idiot Dale Jr. On "back in the day" but it's pretty corny. :D

They didn't have the roof flaps back then either, so the cars would turn sideways and air would get under them and they would do backflips. Scary thing to watch, when you don't know how it's going to end.

I would add these guys to your list:
    David Pearson
    Bobby Allison
    Buddy Baker
    Darrell Waltrip

The most important thing Lee Petty ever did was have a son named Richard, but he was a good driver too, way before my time. All his peers were car owners by the time I was old enough to know what was going on. OMG, some of those guys were such rednecks!

They spent a ton of money on Rockingham just before they stopped having big events there. Rockingham used to be famous mostly for drag races.

Wilkesboro is special, the oldest surviving NASCAR track, site of old moonshiner races. I drove past it for years on highway 421 and didn't know exactly where it was. Nothing was visible from the highway, because the shape of the land was hiding everything. Then they added more seating, and suddenly the track was obviously right there at the edge of the highway! I see it on most of my NC mountain day trips.

You would probably like Bowman Gray in Winston-Salem, because it's like time travel, like being able to see a race at Wilkesboro in 1948. Bowman Gray is also an ancient track, inside a football stadium, quarter mile paved, narrow, no banking, hard to pass, still NASCAR sanctioned for events with drivers who haven't made it to the big time yet. They race every weekend during warm weather. Not a lot of seating, regular fans from the neighborhood who know each other, cheap hot dogs, driver fights after the races. That's old time racing.

oh dear. i found some denim in my stash. already cut out for a project (upcycling some shoes, though it took me all afternoon to remember what i was planning to use it for) but the thing is.... its basically just the right size for making a bag ive been planning on too.
    so...
just below the knee denim boots with leg pockets, or tie strap diaper tote/ purse, with pockets on the outside
    WWYD?

Those boots sound mighty interesting! I'd be very interested in how you would make boots. The diaper tote thing sounds like it would be easier, (but I could be wrong), it would be used a great deal and it would look really cute.

    WWYD = :rofl:

That's bad about the tit biting. I'm sorry but I'm grinning as I type that. :D Its good to hear he likes his food. :)

its the pockets that have me all weird about it. its got the regular hip pockets, butt pockets (with flap/ buttons) and an upper thigh pocket, with flap and button. so it would be a lot of storage, on either a boot or a bag. i can always find other jeans to upcycle with just the typical pockets.... but im so conflicted!

I like the puff of smoke that precedes Snoop in that video. But I bet BK wants to drug test you yet they play up his stoner image to sell fast food.
