Oh I'm not taking offense nor biting on a jab about basketball. I'll just dribble that away, make a duke move, three points and free throw it away. Nothin' but net. ;)

    :D

I was recently listening to a interview and someone said since three points are so frequent these days it's completely changes the complexion of basketball to the point where it's just not basketball anymore. It was interesting and thinking of reviewing the three points all together, but that would ruin old statistics etc.

Personally I think almost all sports are getting worse and worse with their rules and competitiveness.

I saw him open for Shpongle.

You used to be able to find that stuff at goodwill for dirt cheap. No one wanted it but you are right it's so old it's good now. Some of those games can go for thousands if it's rare enough. No kid saved the boxes which would make it very valuable. It's the same thing I see with classic cars. Why is this 50 year old car worth so much? Because someone wants the car from when they were 16 even if it's far from the best you could buy. Same thing with games it does not matter if there is better stuff made now.

You can buy replacement boxes though on eBay. I know they aren't original, but a box and case is still a box and case.

I remember selling all my Nintendo gear on eBay when I was moving out of home and was really happy I got a few hundred for it all. Then I started buying stuff on eBay like bundles and selling it off piece by piece. Made lots of money. And now... Now im trying to get it all back to play again. =\

That's one of the closest universities to where I live. Also not too far from the home of Richard Petty, who now has the same number of career wins as Payton Manning. Did you know that piece of racing trivia?

Yeah, 200 wins but back then they were racing 2-4 races a week!

Kyle Bush wants 200 wins overall from cup, xfinity and trucks.

I hope he doesn't get there.

The biggest difference then was a much smaller number of high budget racing teams. There were about a dozen guys who had a real chance to win. I remember hearing my dad talk about it a lot.

Would be interesting to see how the olds would fair on track now days, with these cars and the competition. It seems a long time ago that a driver would just run away with it. The last time that happened was the last Winston Cup before they went Nextel. I remember Matt Kenseth won two races all year but won the championship and that's when the chase came about because NASCAR didn't want the season over before the last race. But what I think they did was take away the consistency needed to win a championship, now you could just do a Kyle bush and only race 1/3 of the year with a win and you can be crowned a champion. I don't like it and I believe most fans don't like it. Good ratings though. Ratings and fights, brings the drama and the money. Of course had there been no chase mr. Gordon would have... 7 or 8 championships by now and Jimmie Johnson wouldn't have 6 or be close to it...at all.

My creatures of mythology thread I had actually written a mega short story for it but my phone page reloaded and I lost all my work. I forgot to write my novel in the notepad. And it was much more detailed than I have now. What I have now isn't even a tip of the iceberg but alas I couldn't be bothered with trying to re-write it. But I'd gone from now to way back to Atlantis days in much more detail of who and what I was and why I did the things I did. I'm really kinda of upset I lost it for it could have possibly been the best written work I'd ever accomplished. =[

There are definitely some bogus wins in King Richard's 200, some of them due to a dirty trick by the Chrysler Corporation that changed racing forever. Nobody likes to talk about it, but I remember the controversy very well. It was a huge local story that everybody knew about.

They built a special version of a car, I think it was either a Dodge Charger or its Plymouth equivalent, and put a high wing on the back like an old Formula One car. They wouldn't let anybody but Richard drive it. It was solid blue, with white numbers. The car couldn't be beat, so everybody else was racing for second place. Eventually, NASCAR had no choice but to risk pissing off Chrysler by banning the car from competition.

The retired car was moved to the front showroom window of a Dodge-Plymouth dealership on South Main Street in High Point, NC, where it sat on display for several years. I remember riding past there and seeing it every time we went to High Point to eat pork barbecue. Then the Petty Museum was built in Level Cross, about 20 minutes south of there, and I guess the car has been there ever since. For a while, they were kind of proud of it being the only race car to ever be retired undefeated, but then they realized that it was an unfair advantage and not good for racing, so I think everybody involved is ashamed of the whole story now. The family is a lot more proud of the red and blue Charger that replaced it, which also won a lot of races, under fair conditions.

This incident was the first time that NASCAR ever told an auto manufacturer what they could or could not put in a car that was going to be raced in competition. It was the first step in the increasing regulation that led to today's standardized designs that have absolutely nothing to do with any kind of a car that the general public can buy.

Richard grew up going with his father Lee to race the family car on weekends. Back then, they didn't even take the headlights out, and the two straightaways at Daytona were the beach sand and US Highway 1.

    I know the car! ^.^

At Talladega they had like 70 plus going around. :) Most were street stock, but a few of the racing Plymouths. :)

That's a problem in racing in general. It takes a lot of money to take a few tenths of second off a lap time. Most people can't keep up.
