lol There had to have been more to it than that. Perhaps some other drugs or a decently large amount of alcohol.

Seriously, 8 kpins? nah lol. Know plenty of people that take nearly double that fairly frequently.

Yeah xanax is ridiculously safe, as far as toxicity goes.

just posting what I heard, so I don't know all the details. I think the story goes that she told her firends that something was wrong, needed to go the hospital, but they kept on telling her she would be ok. Her friends seemed pretty depressed about the whole thing and I imagine, pretty guilty.

So I don't know what happened. Yeah, so maybe some interaction. I suppose that some people just have freak reactions to certain drugs though. Could the individual pills have been high dose? Maybe what I heard about her dose level just wasn't correct, but it might explain why her friends thought she would just be fine.

Blah, GTFOutta here with that shit man.
If you don't know what happened why even bring it up?
And I was already thinking about the stronger kpins anyway, and 8 is still not going to kill you.

Why even bring it up? Cause she died, and as far as I knew, my original info was correct. Seemed like people should know.

Though I think you have a point about making sure I have the right info. I'll try to contact her friends and verify the story.

ok, this just from what I found on wikipedia

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clonazepam

the dose per pill stated there ranges from .5mg-2mg

low toxicity is noted in the description, but also induction of seizures is listed as an occasional side effect even from perscription doses (I'm guessing you could die from a seizure). Coma is listed as a potential side effect of overdose, but there is no indication of what overdose levels are.

the effects of klonopin can apparently be enhanced by interactions with "certain antidepressants, antiepileptics such as phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine, sedative antihistamines, opiates, antipsychotics and alcohol", and presumably the enhanced effects also increase the risk of side effects.

It's also noteworthy that someone with low body weight generally is going to have stronger reaction to the same dose of a drug than another. The wiki page also notes particular negative effects for those under 18, but doesn't go into much detail. Also, someone with underlying health problems can have weird reactions, or certain people just have weird reactions.

So I think the take home message is that for most people, a low dosage is not going to be a problem. High doses, mixing with other drugs, and other special circumstances could be trouble.

Like I said, I'll try to talk to that girl's friends and verify the story.

So I finally talked to one of her friends again. Verified that it was indeed 8 klonopin. I asked if she was on meds, doing other drugs, but he got defensive and angry and walked away.

I guess that maybe I should have realized that curosity questions about someone that you cared about who died from someone who didn't know her might not be welcome. I fucked up.

I hope that no one else dies from an overdose. But I guess I can't really answer the question of how much is too much or to what degree you can or can't mix other drugs safely.

I don't think that the conclusion is "oooooooo, klonopin is soooooooo dangerous, I'm going to stay safe and smoke crack instead". If the wiki acrticle is correct, the drug is noted for low toxicity. I think it's that there are just occasional/rare side effects that can be dangerous. Also, if you are taking certain perscription drugs or mix with other drugs or alcohol, you can get dangerous drug interactions. And this may be even more true for drugs other than klonopin.
