In Canada, you can not up and do that. There are so many countries that are not on the tax exemption list and do not have a tax treaty with Canada. The only countries you can do this with in Canada. Without being penalized is the UK and the USA. It is also based on your income and how much you put into it, you also must have spent 20 years working in Canada constantly and can not be out of the country for more than 6 months, or you are cut off.

I am sure there is something like this in the USA as well.

 

I've lived in Cambodia and Colombia and I loved both, despite both having severe poverty.

I don't expect it to be for everyone, but they are beautiful countries with much more to offer than poverty. I saw something completely new every single day, and truly novel concepts are a type of wealth of their own.

for me, if I was living in Guatemala, I would want to work with indigenous people, live with them and do what I could to make their lives better, for them to prosper, not starve. My goal would not be to live like a king. This is why I would not live there. I would be starving myself in the end and most likely be a target as well, simply because it would be hard to blend in, looking as I do. People would see me as a foreigner which to many would mean money. He would be a target as well.

Is he not comfortable now? I think he is, has the necessities of life. He talks as if he has it made and simply wants to have more. Is it necessary? Is he starving and struggling in his day to day life to make ends meat? He said living like a king. Would life be better for him there? No! That was the point. Well in terms of social security income, it doesnt stretch very far in the US. So it does stand to reason he could live more comfortably elsewhere with a lower cost of living.

Iraq does seem a silly choice though, not sure why one would want to leave the US for a war torn country that is occupied by the US.

I believe it is important for any nation to look after its own first, make sure that the jobs go to those who are qualified and live within its own borders first, before they look to hire those outside the country.
