A fun activity that shows you have a common interest or at least a common sense of fun is definitely preferable over a typical dinner/movie thing.
first ive ever head of it....keep in mind ive never been east of Alberta for any length of time. Eastern Ontario is for all practical purposes a different country compared to the western provinces, dito for Quebec and the maritimes.
couple of people i know said the universities over here have an aluminai weekend in the fall. nothing that's ever made news though
Hey Tyrson, did they still have the senior parade in high school when you were there? At the end of the school year the girls would sit in all their classes making paper flowers out of tissues. Then the seniors would tape them all over their cars and at the end of the school day, form a big line and drive out to the rival high schools and tool around for awhile. Such innocent fun back then.
happy birthday! since it happened between now and whenever i last saw you mention your age : ) you don't come across as 40, and i mean that as a compliment. yeah i never get the movies and dinner thing. one of them, you can't really interact properly.. the other one you have to interact over eating and there are all sort of varying ideas of etiquette which means the potential for awkwardness is higher than average. i like Irminsul's idea of the circus. or yeah, like anything that is a kind of activity where you can still talk.
As far as 40, I'm not technically there yet; I will be 40 in February. The dinner and movies for me serves as a template that can be used as reference. It's the actual "date" date. I would do a rave but I'd totally be pushing my interests onto the woman in question. I don't know that she would like it, and frankly not everyone raves. I got into it when I was young and trying to get off of a speed habit. But to a newcomer it would probably feel like it was significantly about drugs (less so now than in the early 2000s when I started). That's definitely not what I want to portray. Plus, raving or clubbing for that matter are both expensive if you count drinks and hotels in the total cost. If I were to take her home after the night out clubbing, for example, it would be a little less; typically $25 per ticket unless the headliner is famous and is more expensive. Ok, that was a tangent. But anyway, I think I'm happier being single for the time being.
Granted I've never been to a circus as an adult but I'm under the impression that it would be a bunk circus if you wanted to talk during it. I can't imagine wanting to talk while trapeze artists are swinging around 25 feet in the air and tigers jumping through hoops and stuff.
Yeah true. I was actually imagining a fair. I think playing with Lego would make a good first date but I've not yet met anyone who agrees.
Well while you think about that, think about this.. Some morons go to sporting events and watch it on the big screen instead of the actual event right in front of them.
What about those people who spend all night in the smoking area at a concert and never see the main act?
