If you are interested, the book Living on the Earth by alicia bay laurel may help. Mohter Earth News Magazine is helpful, too. If you want to, do it. You learn by doing it. The worst thing that happens is you run outta toilet paper. (or food. that's actually worse.) Do it.
live in sa tent a week? i've done it for a month or 2..in the spring hopefuly getting a teepee & live init a few years or so then get some land & upgrade to a yurt..
oh..just 1 thing, be aware of what wildlife is inthe areas your in, ..bear country requires alittle special care ..but any critters may pressent certain hassles (like porcupines eatting your stash) also, unless your camping in real harsh weather, a $25 walmart tents just as good as a $300 one from anywhere else..if not better since they will replace it free, nomatter what
well if u have a big vehicle like a schoolbus soyou can transport a teepee or yurt theyre the wayto go, ..more room & warmth ya can checkout www.reliabletent.com for teepees & www.coloradoyurt.com for yurts those are just 2 i had memorized
youd be surprised as u get further intothe wilderness. snakes..poisionous spiders..youmayonly see squirels but that doesnt mean theres other more dangerous critters around but for the most partthey will leave u alone if u leave them alone..but it is a good idea to check whats inthe areas your going into..
Well...There are NO poisonus spiders in the UK, there is only one poisonus snake (witch is prittey harmless, the poison can only kill the very young or old). The UK is quite a safe place to camp.
you get internet in dat dare tent eh!? I wanted to do this int he summer but I forgot about it after a while.
Been livin' in a tent from April to October every year since i can't remember when. Tried livin' in a Tipi in a New York winter once, but abandoned it to the dogs about first of December. Twas a heavy canvas 21 footer. Still have the damned old rotten thing... I'm preparing to set up a winter camp. Can't think of anything more pleasant than waking up in the woods to the soft sound of falling snow. I hope. Gonna try staying warm with hot rocks...
... nope i dont,, but could iffin i truly wanted to,,,, unfortunately in todays society,,,, many things we used to have to run to town n do we now do on here,,, so tis necessary to enter the shack n all its technologically advanced accoutriments upon occasion
Ok so it's hardly so adventurous.. but i'd love to just set my tent up in my back garden for a few weeks. 1 question though, to the people my age.. how have your parents reacted? I don't think living in a tent would go down too well with my grandparents (who i live with)
just set up your tent on your grandparents land somewhere.. explain to them why you want to do it, and ask what their concerns are. you may be surprised and find that they're actually cool with it... a week in a tent never hurt anyone. : )
I lived in a tent for a week when I was on a geology field-trip at university. It rained most days, and poured every night. When I moved around in my tent, the ground remoulded itself to fit. Still, it was all good fun. (When I got home, I washed the tent and left it out in the garden to dry. Unfortunately, I left it on an ant hill, and it took almost another week to get all the ants out )
My friend and I didn't even use a tent when we lived in the wild. We slept under the stars, and it allows you to connect with Mother Nature on a much wider scale. It's a trust thing.
