6 Yes we know we have been through this and the question again is – are you trying to imply therefore that ALL left wingers must be racists? You will reply – no I didn’t mean ALL I then will ask again – then why did you present it that way? You run away
6 Oh not again – we have been through the whole ‘the Nazis were socialist so ALL socialism is as bad as the Nazis’ routine many many times now. And it just a routine because you repeat it over and over – you imply something then when pulled up on it you deny that’s what you did only to repeat the same trick again, over and over… And we have been through the whole Nazis thing, and I’ve directed you to the thread Why do the national libertarians keep reminding me of the Nazis (or quoted from it) a number of times. Why do the national libertarians keep reminding me of the Nazis?
6 Oh man you are hilarious – in reply to a post pointing out how often you refuse to address the many outstanding criticisms of your view and how you keep repeating things already covered you reply by not addressing the criticisms of your views and instead just repeat stuff that has already been covered And once again you put us right back on the carousel, going around and around. Again I ask – why do you repeat stuff you couldn’t address or defend the first time you said it?
I will be honest yes with the current state of America. If you support Trump you are simply an ignorant or evil person. I know that his voters love to rally around this victim hood and say you can not handle differing views. But to me being an American is stand against the racist and ignorant hate he supports. We are a melting pot and we are stronger together. Humans are a pack animal not a solo predator as the alt-right thinks of itself. The power of love is so strong. Try saying the things he says in DC in 1944 and see how it works out. Many good Americans died to protect our way of life and I simply can not be around that level of hate. It's a slap in the face of the sacrifice those men made. There are not goof people on both sides. Sometimes you need to take a stand. Old school Republicans like Bush we can chill, that is still America even if you are wrong.
Bullshit. A clothespin vote for Trump or a clothespin vote for Hillary doesn't mean a person is ignorant or evil, it means we need a better way of choosing a president.
I don't really like how Bush is all of a sudden acceptable just because Trump is worse. He used an American tragedy to manipulate the public into going to war and destabilized the middle east and the implications of this will be seen for generations ...okay, maybe he didnt. I actually do kinda buy into the image of Bush as a dumb but inherently decent human, but his administration at any rate. And Bush supporters were just as bad as Trump supporters. Freedom fries, anyone? Just as dumb as anything Trump supporters have said or done. And the xenophobia we see with Trump supporters was around during the Bush years too, it was just directed at brown people from the middle east instead of brown people from below the border.
Irks me too. Look at our current situation: 1) Middle East all effed up: Bush & Chaney directly caused this 2) Honduras and El Salvador all effed: Ronald Reagan ( the republicans divine leader) and the CIA caused this. 3) Current problem: Immigration from both of these areas is problematic to our current leader. And he can't deal with it. As to unfocus statement: trump supporters ignorant or evil. I think most fall under the ignorant description, they do not understand how we arrived at our current situation. Thus we shall repeat it again and again.
For what it's worth, Bush tried to reign in the loonier, xenophobic folks by speaking positively about Islam. If memory serves he kinda bungled it, but his heart was in the right place.
Sure, screw bush and trump, and their administrations. But let's not fool ourselves thinking the american state has ever held the best interest of any people in its hands. The liberals savior, Obama, deported and drone-bombed more people than bush or cheney could ever dream to. And Trump is just starting to pass that mark now.
Yup. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Folks have awfully bad memories and short sighted vision sometimes Dumb but inherently decent He does score points over Trump for not fanning the flames of xenophobia But some of his policies were, uh, pretty damaging to say the least
If you support politician X, you're an ignorant, evil person. If you support politician Y, you're a benevolent, wonderful person. This is the current state of our arrogant politics. Fellow Americans are learning to hate each other over politics in all new ways. But some of the classics, like violence are returning stronger than ever. And I mean the real kind of violence where people injure others with more than words, and seem to delight themselves by delivering physical harm to others. This is why I can't take a fanatical liking to either party. Both seem to enjoy fanning the population's flames, so what's the point? They will continue to lord over us and control our lives while watching us fight each other over shit THEY do. Wake the fuck up Americans, fighting each other plays into their hands, not ours.
I think that's right. The right should admit the error of its ways and repent! Seriously, we have a Divider in Chief in the oval office who uses partisan rhetoric to an unprecedented extent to gin up his base. He's corrupt, foul-mouthed, hateful, ignorant, and authoritarian. I don't think people should accept that simply for the sake of avoiding offending their ignorant neighbors. Their neighbors have some responsibility too, and if they are complicit in keeping this jerk in office, the country and its values are, to use a Bushism, in "deep doo doo." The only way out is to hate the sin while loving the sinners who "know not what they do". They aren't blameless, but can be forgiven. What we don't want to do is say evil is okay, so as not to hurt the wrongdoers' feelings. Alas, we live in a world where the choices are often between relative evils. The evil Writers Panic chooses to focus on are the Clintons, as evidenced by the Bill and Monica logo. I don't think they're a big problem at the present time.
This is the difference between intentions and consequences. Both are important in judging the morality of actions. G.W. seems to have been well meaning, but his actions led to horrendously bad consequences--worse than anything Trump has yet done. Trump is depraved and dangerous, but so far hasn't been able to accomplish a whole lot.
I don't recall the Bush Administration promoting xenophobia though. Maybe some of his supporters were xenophobic--one can't help that. But Bush seemed to be obsessed with security and, in my opinion, some sort of revenge for his daddy. It's like he had a score to settle with Saddam. He was misguided, sure. Stupid even. But I don't think he was ever hateful. I think he believed in what he was doing and truly wanted what was best for the US. I also think he was "poisoned" by people like Rumsfeld and Cheney, but that's another discussion. Trump, on the other hand, exists only because of hate. So he must continually fan the flames of hate to keep himself relevant. He has to promote a xenophobic and racist agenda, or those supporting him will lose faith. That's his platform: fuck Mexicans; fuck Muslims; fuck women; fuck queers...make America Great for the real victims: white, conservative, heterosexual men.
That's slightly disingenous if in comparison to Bush. Trump has appointed more women judges than any other republican president. I'd guess there are more women in his adminstration than Bush's too.
That's just humor, you're reading too much into it. Sure, I dislike the Clintons and think they are slimy criminals, particularly Bill. But I dislike the Bush family for many of the same reasons and see them as slimy criminals as well. This is why I have pulled away from the idea of latching onto either major party. The problem I have noticed with going all in for 1 side is that it becomes too easy to believe one side exclusively. This is a terrible mistake because both parties lie on such a regular basis you can just about set up a schedule. Instead we should be forcing BOTH sides to focus ONLY on the problems of the Americans instead of fighting among themselves at the country club that is Washington.
I agree. Bush was too busy playing games with Iraq, oil, Poppies and drones. Medical marijuana made great strides during the GW years. Not because Bush supported it, he ignored it. He didn't care. All he cared about was his father handing over the rifle so he could bag the trophy buck (Hussein). I realize it's not popular, but one of the good things about Trump's election is that it illustrated exactly how a 3rd party will have to approach the problem. Trump did what they couldn't do in decades. His strategy was shrewd and logical. He could have picked the democrats to infiltrate and defeat from the inside before going after the republicans, who had been throwing in the towel for years. Instead, he infiltrated the republicans and many of them realized exactly what he was up to. Which is why we still have as many "never Trumper" type republicans (which means they are basically useless to their constituents and only a marginal benefit to democrats).
I agree with the second part to the point that we still have not seen the results of the Trump Administration. But I do not think GW was "well meaning". Oh he talked like he was, then turned around and pissed people off all over the planet. GW was a bully and his creepy family connections (including the CIA) did all kinds of crap that ensured republicans would fail badly 2008. Of course, wheeling out that Manchurian fossil to face Obama will go down as one of the GOP's dumbest moves.
