Would you like to know the benefits of being a Christian?

Why does christianity bother people so bad, I mean if I met someone of the Islam faith, It would be awesome to sit down and talk to them about their beliefs, or someone of the Hindu faith. Diversity is wonderful. But the second someone says they are a Christian, a million people bash them just for believing something, after all this is the GENERAL Philosophy and Religion forum, and last time I checked Modern Christianity is a religion. Yes I believe in Christ, but I am not a religious person, I dont attend any church or anything like that, I am on a spiritual path. But this still disturbs me. If other people of other faiths, or people with no faith at all can talk freely about believing in another God, or not believing in one, then Christians definately have the right to do so as well.

 

I have no problem with Christianity. What I truly dislike, completely have no respect for, is close minded, ignorant "christians" who don't understand the true significance of a word of the bible. The guy who posted this thread isnt as bad as a lot of them. But then he still maintains that his religion si greater than any other, that only christians can be saved, etc. I find it hard to believe that a serial child rapist would go to heaven just because he was a christian, whereas a staunch atheist, who never set foot in a church, but lived his entire life in the service of others, would burn in hell. I refuse to believe in such an arbitary, attention-seeking, self glorifying god.

The way a lot of christians make it seem is that God is so insecure that he is trying to bribe us into loving him, by luring us with rewards of heaven and threatening us with the fires of hell. People who accept this and love God so that they may book a seat in heaven are as bad as prostitutes, selling their affections for comfort.

 

I totally agree, instead of thinking for themselves they let others think for them. I had a friend that was with me on a particular Idea, and would argue with me about it. Then his preacher told him it was wrong, so he stopped and then argued against me. I just laughed about it. Its really sad. People today need to free their minds.

The best movie for anyone of any faith to watch, is dogma.

Christ was just one of many who have walked this planet, Jesus Christ is not the only way to salvation, just one of them, I've found an open mind can save many.
