You guys bickering over minimum wage jobs or 3x jobs make me laugh. Get an education, get a managerial trainee job, work hard, and get away from being an hourly wage slave .... like the OP. On second thought; don't change a thing! Those of us who live in large homes, drive nice cars. and send our kids to private schools need people like you to do the scut work .... clean my house, mow my lawn and tend the plantings, wash my cars, etc. .... to say nothing of all the other necessities of life when I leave my home. Please stay just as you are .... don't try to improve yourselves .... blame society for your failures .... and raise your children with the same attitudes.
No, no and NO - I would not hire a jackass - young or old who acted like that, especially in this day and age and this crappy economy. I am currently on unemployment, and you would Not believe how RUDELY I have been treated - I don't know if it is b/c I am not 20 something or that I carry myself well and am Not a big fat ass. I don't mean to go off too much, cause I really like this thread - but it seems likes its kids with Bad Attitudes, that seem to be just almost Too inconvenienced - or big fat ass women with Bad Bossy attitudes that seem to get the jobs. LOL - my cuz who is currently looking for work in Reno said we need to Remember to have a Bad, snarly attitude and act as if it doesn't matter if we Ever Work Again. Think that'll work?:cheers2:
And OldTroll - you may feel smart, and think you are - and fate may have just smiled like hell all over you - hey, those who deserve much get little and vice versa. I happen to have a BS in psychology, graduated magna cum laude. That does Not preclude looking for work in this day and age, nor in the fact that there are Many Many degreed people taking what work is available, hourly wage or not. Simple possession of marijuana is all it'll take to render post high school education almost unusable - so if you readers take anything away from all of this, please take that.
That's how I got the interview and job at Hardee's...by just walking back in and telling the cashier person that I was in at that moment to see the manager about an interview. The manager on duty wasn't busy at the time, so I got my interview right then. I forget now but think that manager musta thought another manager schedule an interview.
Haha, squawkers, the only thing that sucked about this dude pulling that on us today was that on cold days, we cut down to two people after lunch, usually me and the manager, unless we have an interview scheduled, then we have one other employee so that I don't have to run all 3 positions by myself. Today we only had two people and he came in expecting an interview and it was a really bad time.
Lynnbrown - - I can empathize with you. There are many who do all the “right” things and still end up on the dirty end of the stick. If a pot bust was what has held you back, then you should be over in the druggie threads. There are a lot of kids there that need to hear from people like you. I do not think that I’m particularly smart, but I do think that I’m experienced. At 17 a judge told me that I had a month to join the military or go to jail. I choose the military. Learned to take responsibility for my choices and actions. Stayed 20 years. I had protected my country, seen friends die, and earned a lifetime income. After the military I worked as a pilot for another 7-8 years, worked up to flying LearJets and turboprops, until I saw that without a degree there was a ceiling that I was reaching. Went back to college. Became a hippie in college, but married a much younger woman who turned out to be very successful at climbing the corporate ladder. The people that I smoked dope and dropped acid with in college in 1980 have led very diverse lives …. from making in the seven figures like my wife to riding a meth needle like the lady in my sig-pic. It’s a matter of making the right choices, and to do that you have to have the initiative to learn what the choices and alternatives are. You’re a year older than my wife, and I could have told you in the ‘70s that a B.S. in psych was a dead end. My wife’s degree was a B.S. in speech path and a semester toward an MSc …. then she realized that there was no future there and took a job as a managerial trainee in fast food …. worked her ass off and now we are reaping the results …. buying what we want, when we want …. and a 20 y.o. in a private college, he’ll earn an MBA and probably earn more than his Mom … and a 21 y.o. also in a private college who will earn his PhD. in astro phyics … and will likely never earn more than the equivalent of $100,00 in 2008 dollars. It’s all in the choices we make. Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svāhā__________________ Sheryl Soft and tender, tough and hard .... Never touched a razor .... I shall love her always!
The hell, I probably would have sighed, too. Then again, you should have your head examined if you hire me.
