would you give $2?

I was in Atlanta a couple of months ago and a homeless dude asked me to buy him a cup of coffee and a doughnut, so I paid for it with a $20 bill and let the dude keep the change. But as he was walking away I noticed that he was wearing pair of brand new Jordans. I think I was totally ripped off, but he was smart enough to trick me into it so I figured that he deserved it.

 

honestly, id rather give two bucks to a homeless person then to dm and tl... even though i like them just fine. i have a soft spot for people that cant afford food and stuff like that. been there, know what it's like.

but to honestly answer the question... that would all depend on whether i have two bucks on me or not. id give more if i had it but most likely i wouldnt.

 

It depends on the person, most people I try to help out as much as I can. Some of them I'd give the money to, just to make the go away. Most of the time I like to hear the story they have to tell first. I've been poor and homeless, and found that the help of others is a very good thing. What goes around comes around

Oh yeah sometimes more. If it looks like they are getting drunk with it. I will buy them a meal instead.
I have been homeless twice in my life and have eaten in Soup Kitchens too.
It's a really hard thing to endure. Going to sleep hungry sucks.
In my desperate times I would hit a hotel that serves free breakfast. As long as you are clean and dressed decent you can blend in with the guests.
Now things are better for me-so I always help out a person who is homeless or hungry.
I do not give smokes to young dudes who just grub. If your going to smoke have your own money to do that.
Just a pet peeve.

but with the people i know, i take them for a cup of coffee
or go eat something with them. i also take them to sleep-in-homes.
first let them take their drugs if they are addicted and then pay for the sleep-in home.if they need their drugs, and they ask me for money for that, they still get it. a junk without drugs is worse than a junk with drugs.
i worked with homeless people, and some became friends.

Yes, I would give a homeless person two dollars. I'd have no problem with that whatsoever.

 

i try to be virtuous and practice generosity and kindness towards others....so yeah, if i have money to spare and someone who appears to be homeless is begging, i'll usually give them some. if not i'll give them a couple cigarettes or something if i have some and they smoke.

thing is, you NEVER really know their situations. they may not really be homeless, or they might be in some real dire times. who cares if they're really using it for food or gas or drugs or whatever? hey, if they're addicted to drugs and thats what they spend the money on, shit...addiction is a disease, and depending on the substance it may be as important to an addict as having food or water, so i dont care what they spend it on. if they need the money, they need the money, and either way they don't have a good life and i'd like to help them out. besides, if a beggar is spending money to feed a bad addiction, they'll get it one way or another. if its not enough to beg, then people will end up stealing, or worse yet straight up mugging people for money.

i know some people have qualms about giving money to panhandlers and such, and its fine if you don't want to give to them, but if i saw someone being an asshole to the guy it would seriously piss me off. i can't stand people being such fucking stuck up twats just because they make more money than others.


the only times i wont give are if i can barely afford to get by myself, or if i'm being followed and harassed by the person for money.

It makes you feel good, it makes that other person feel good, and anyone who witnesses it feels good!
There used to be this boy who would stand at an intersection and ask for money, I would always give him money and apples. He liked both.

sometimes i do sometimes i don't. depends on how they ask and the feeling i get from them. i gave a homeless guy 4$ the other day, whether he spent it on drugs or not didn't really matter, he was very polite and sincere (or just really good at being a street person hehe)

actually i dont give out change because then i have to get out my wallet and they will see how much money i have and could possibly try to grab and run so screw that.
