stout is also just a dark ale. they are both generally close to pitch black, and the head generally is very similar in characteristics. as far as i know, there is little to no difference in the WAY they are made or what ingredients are used....of course every beer has it's own recipe, but you know what i mean...

its cool. i had some rogue dead guy ale, i believe is what it was called....only had it once, with my folks when we were spending a weekend in bloomington, indiana...as i recall it was a bit sweet for my taste, but not so sweet that i couldnt drink more than one or two. it was great, actually, i was pretty impressed. i saw some other rogue beers in the store yesterday, but went for two unibroue's and three samuel smiths....

i also got to drink most of a beer my friend bought that she didnt like. she got it cause the bottle was cute, with dancing bears on it....it was called paleooza or something, from a microbrewery i'd never heard of....it was good, but a little too herbal or floral....it was delicious, but i could barely finish the whole glass, so i know i'd be done for if i got a sixpack. they could tone it down at bit, but it was good...rather perfumey, in both the flavor and the nose...

i'm smoking a macanudo hyde park with the don de dieu....i wanted a cigar tastey enough to compliment the beer, but mild enough to not overpower the flavor....this was my last of this type of cigar, which i've been holding on to for a while, but it is a near perfect match. (actually, they're hyde park seconds, but hey, they taste the same....they're hyde parks to me...)

i have a few different types of stogies on hand so it was a tough choice, but i couldn't be happier with the outcome....but if i hadn't smoked my pinar 3000 (100% cuban pre-embargo tobacco) it would have been a much better fit. perhaps the la flor dominicana ligero 300 would be a good choice too...but i have to be economical sometimes...

so i'm pretty passionate about good cigars and good coffee and good beers and good food....not yet a coinesseur on any front, but very interested in proper complementary pairings, and i hope i refine my palate and tastes enough, and learn enough, to be able to someday write a book on good pairings of cigars with beers, foods, and coffees.....

would be nice :) pipe dream, probably

Sounds Like Fun Time! But Man, The Dead Guy Ale Is Good, But Personally I Think That It's One Of The Worst Rogues Besides The Morimotos. Saint Rogues Red And Private Reserve Ale Are My Favorites. You Ever Hear Of Black Sun? That's A Goodn Too

milwaukee's best and steel reserve are just horrible in my opinion.
but im not a huge fan of beer anyway...i blame the years of drinking the most awfully tasting cheap ass 40's i could get.
id have to go with guiness or heineken as my favorite, although i rather drink wine over beer anytime.

nah, unfortunately i haven't gotten a chance to try anything but the dead guy...

thing is i'm only 20, i turn 21 in june. my chances to try a new beer anytime i want are limited very much....i rely on being able to every week or two going to a store with a friend i've already given money to, and pointing out things i want to try....

may be silly, but i've gone thus far without getting in trouble, might as well not draw too much attention to myself and risk getting in some sort of trouble, no matter how minor it may be. i'll have lots of time to try new beers in a couple months...not to mention new liqueurs...can't wait to give benedictine and galliano a go....they're both supposed to be good....

also, ive been enjoying my vaporizer today. its just been a damn good day.

only problem is i've realized my wisdom teeth are coming in, and it hurts. i suspect they'll need to be removed soon. hopefully i'll at least get some good pills for it.

indeed! they're coming in crooked, and i'm having trouble eating today. back upper left keeps biting my cheek pretty bad....for a while i thought i was getting sores possibly related to smoking, and i was scared of cancer....sort of glad its just my teeth, which can be removed in due time....most likely a week or two, i dont want to procrastinate this type of thing, my only older sibling had his removed in an emergency after biting through his cheek...

something to be said for genetics, and mine are coming in pretty crooked...not enough room for the teeth i have to begin with, squeezing more in there will only cause trouble!

oh well, probably could get maybe two or three days off of work, too, if i play my cards right....along with some painkillers....percocets and vicodans have been common among people i've known....mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

I Know, All 4 Of Mine Are Hurting Like A Bitch, And My Bottom Left One Keeps Biting My Cheek Too, Sucks, Now I Cant Find Percocets Anymore So I Have To Stop Self-medicating Myself And Just Listen To Her And Go To The Dentist! And Im Getting Really Tired Of Having To Rely On Friends For Good Beer.

Sammy Addams IS killer. Killians is ok but not brewed anything near to the smae quality as samuel addams. I hate giving money to big corpartaions killians was better until they got bought out and now its brewed much different. Samuel addams double bock is classic it tastes amazing only if you like strong beer. And a sixer will get you pretty wasted. If your into lighter beer Boston lager is amazing it is full of hops and very aromatic for a lighter beer.
Sammy BLOWS Killians Right out the H20

depends on the variety, for me; I adore Cream Stout, but I'd prefer Killian's over regular Sam Adams. The spring and summer ales are fucking divine.

    Keystone or Bud Light.

Did someone say Schlitz was the best? Sarcasm doesn't go well on the internet sometimes. [IMG]

And it is beer. I mean it's like calling budweiser beer (shitty rice beer) but still kinda qualifies.

Any budweiser, miller, coors, michelob products are no good. None of them have any flavor and if they do have a flavor it's one I can live without.

PBR is absolutely horrid. you couldnt pay me to drink that shit.

There was a day that I swore by red stripe, but that too, tastes the way I would imagine piss to taste.
Those are a few of my least faves.

Give me a Paulaner Hefe or a Franciskaner. How bout a Chimay Blue(but no thanks to the Chimay Red) or a LaRulles? Maybe a Duvel. Hey I think I'd like an orvel! Yum. Hoegaarden is a nice light and refreshing beer. It doesnt have a lot of flavor but the flavour it has leaves your tastebuds wanting a little more. It's a good warm up. Sometimes a good Bass hits the spot. . . I know, how about a Spaten Optimator? Yeeaahhh, that's the good stuff. Those are just a few of my favourites.
