Gorgeous city and for the most part, I found it Anglo friendly. But I'm white. Might be different if you're not white. Detroit.
I agree about Florida, namely Orlando and Miami. Miami is visually pleasing in parts but it just wasn't my thing. Orlando is a huge theme park wasteland. Also, some of the more touristy parts near the Smoky Mountains, like Pigeon Forge. New Jersey. Myrtle Beach. Everyone here goes to Myrtle Beach in the summer. I'll never understand why that place is so popular.
I think it's funny when people who have been tourists in South FL or Orlando condemn the entire state. But also glad because Northeast FL is a hidden treasure and I'd like it to stay that way. Parts of Jacksonville, the beach communities and Riverside and parts of downtown, St Augustine, and lots of spots along the coastline.. Cool history and culture and fun but also miles of empty serene spots on the water, great weather and a season change. Tons of good people, lots of hippie and laid back types without the elitism like they are trying. It's just the way they live. Tallahassee is great also. And even South FL and Orlando have a lot to offer if you are with locals and not an out of state tourist staying at a hotel and have no ties there. DC area love that too but too many reasons I wouldn't live there anymore. Ocean city MD is trashy yeah but I had a lot of fun there growing up. It's kind of like vegas without the casinos. Never been to myrtle beach. To me, the worst places are certain areas in the northeast or in the country anywhere on the east coast during certain times of the year. When it's grey, wet and cold for two weeks straight and everyone is an asshole or stuck in the 80s, I find it really bleak and depressing. Best places I've been besides Florida and California is any sizable town in the rockies.
I agree deviate... I love the less touristy, hidden gem areas of Florida and is my favorite state because there are so many awesome areas. I also grew up in the D.C. area and really love it there, but also wouldn't want to live there.
Las Vegas, without even a question. I felt like committing suicide when I was there. To me it is the definition of the shallowness and wastefulness of our society. Being in a desert while they are are misting people sunning themselves on a fake beach.... Ugh.
Marengo, Illinois... where people side with a dog murdering rapist just because they buy lousy weed from him. Also, Maine. It was beautiful, but i had a stephen king experience in stephen king country... very "Misery"...
I actually lived for some time in an industrial city in the north of China for over a year and would choose that in a HEARTBEAT over BRISBANE Australia. Worst fucking place in the world - inland, humid, gross insects and worse people. Loved the actual state of Queensland though, stunning with beautiful beaches. It's such a pity that its largest city is such a fucking dump.
You reckon it is worse that the western burbs of Melbourne? Mnay years alo I worked at the Tottenham Hotel formally known as the Paradise Club. It would have to be one of the roughest pubs in Australia and what went on in there led to many legislative changes to to with licensed venues. I found people in the western burbs to mean, vindictive, rude, They have no hesitation at shouting or telling you to fuck off.It is just normal for them. I have seen a mobile seafood vendor come to Hay where I live and he was a fish out of water. He just did not know how to present himself and behave.
Hello, oh, for some unknown reason I suddenly begin to like you . And then there is Frankfurt Gateway Gardens. I lived long enough there to come to the conclusion that I don't mind if the next bomb raiding starts there. Regards Gyro
Yeah Australians in Australia are some of the shittiest, most bigoted people I've ever encountered. But at least you can take a breath without feeling like you just did as much damage to your lungs as if you'd smoked a whole cigarette. Seriously, the pollution in China - well, Beijing - was literally unbelievably bad.
Well In That Case, Piss Off, And Don't Ever Place Your Miserable Ass On Our Pristine Shores Again.... Problem Solved...:2thumbsup: Sneers Glen.
Worst shithole in America award goes to any ghetto. They all suck. In fact, pretty much any majority-minority place sucks. The U.S. has a bull's eye effect in virtually every major city. White flight happens for good reasons. The white middle class has pretty much abandoned ship for the suburbs in every major American city. I say this as one of the last few white homeowners in my entire neighborhood of maybe 500 homes. I criticized those that left early on when the neighborhood started "going black", but now I wish I had gone with them. My $110,000 house is now worth about $60,000. Maybe. My nice middle-class area now has gang graffiti on all the fences, trash everywhere on the streets, ear-splitting "rap" music, drive-by shootings, screaming family arguments where the police get called--every weekend is like an episode of "Cops." Living here sucks, big time.
There's a few places I've been to that are pretty bad. All but one are small towns in the US. Those towns only justify the UN anti- small town actions (IIRC Agenda 21 is the name).
