Black pants and shows, white collared shirt with tie or I can get a shirt from the company and not have to wear a tie. I don't wear a tie regardless. fuck em. I also have to wear an apron and a god damn safety vest
Moving up in the world, nice. I used to work at a YMCA, myself. My job requires a lot of running, heavy lifting, bending, etc. So, we are urged to wear things that are comfortable. Most girls wear sneakers/yoga pants. Can't complain. My other job requires extremely formal attire. Including a button down and a tie. I don't mind too much. It bothers some of the guys, though, since it can get very hot.
I love my work attire. We have no dress code, we just have to be decent looking, so now I wear nice looking jeans or a skirt, with a nice (a bit more elegant) shirt or a T shirt and a blazer (I love blazers). But many other employees dress more casual than me, including the top people. My boss (the owner of the company) is a jeans and t shirt kind of guy which is very fortunate for me.
the y is more than just a gym, it's a cause. anyway, pizza tastes great but making it professionally is a form of torture so severe that it's illegal to use as a means of interrogating terrorists.
It really depends on what I'm doing/the type of meetings I have that day. In the past its ranged from a dark suit and tie, or open neck. Or jeans and jacket. Sometimes I might wear a suit that might be a little OTT pricewise. I've often been a bit OTT in clothes buying. Once or twice, in previous business areas, I've worn a suit and polo shirt with gold chain. People in England might recognise that "uniform" and its connations. Generally tho its a suit and open neck, tie if a more formal meeting.
well i kind of just threw that out there because it's one of their catchphrases that i keep hearing lately. but yeah, it is true. the y is a non-profit organization whose mission is building strong communities by offering programs in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. healthy living would be the swim and gym, fitness classes, personal training, nutritionists, lecture series, etc. youth development would include the childcare, preschool, youth sports, swim lessons, and all the other youth programming they do. social responsibility kind of goes into everything they do, since all programs teach their core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. on top of that, they work with other charities in the community, teach ESL classes, teen leadership clubs, encourage volunteering, etc. actually, one of the programs they have me working on right now is basically where we get a volunteer to lead other volunteers in going out into the community and working to improve whatever they determine they are able to improve. and of course, there's the whole thing about never turning anyone away due to inability to pay. financial assistance is available for all programs or memberships to anyone who needs it. i don't know, that's just a quick version of what they do. really, that's just a quick version of what we do at my y. other locations offer other things, based on the needs of the particular community they are located in.
I mainly wear yoga pants and under armor shirts. In the summer, I wear pretty much nothing but sun dresses and sarongs.
I was mostly curious to hear what you would say about it because this is a very different side of you for those of us who only know you online.
when i worked in kitchens, there was a laundry contractor who brought us whites and those little paper 'chief's' hats. when i worked in the coin room, many years ago, when slot machines still took coins, we had to change into a cover all they provided with no pockets in it. there was no dress code on the railroad, just something sturdy that you wouldn't mind getting a little dust and grease on. but you were required to wear a hard hat. also safety shoes/boots. the same when i worked on that drill rig. (for a mineral exploration drilling contract outfit called longyear, one summer when i was taking geology in college)
Mon - Thurs its slacks tie, button up and sports coat or suit. Fridays its jeans button up and sports coat
