North Americans (USA-ers and Canadians) almost never use the word 'bespoke'. I had never heard or seen the word until a few years ago, and that is despite having lived in the UK when I was a kid. That dictionary is correct: the usage here has increased in recent years. I blame the Internet and Britbox.

It is still quite rare over here, though. The American translation is 'custom'.

Hey, good to see you back!

'Bespoke' in British is 'custom' in American.

Somehow, number one son picked up --fuck all --and said it the other day. I knew you-all said it over the pond, but never heard it here until he said it. ;)

This explains the English translations of writings of classical antiquity and the use of the word "corn," when wheat. barley, or some other grain is being shipped, stored, or made into bread. "Corn" appears in the King James Version over 100 times, but it is not used at all in the New King James Version.

I always considered it an odd and glaring translation error, but now I know. The word existed in English long before the English ever encountered what those in the US now call "corn."

‘Fuck all’ (Acronym: FA) is a British vulgar slang and an extremely offensive phrase which means ‘absolutely nothing at all’ or ‘the most extreme degree of nothing’. It is an uncountable noun.

Also, sometimes it is used to denote a feeble and unsuccessful attempt or an overall bad experience or an interjection of anger, excitement, or disbelief.

    • Usage :
For better understanding, let’s take these sentences for instance:

      1. I've had fuck all to eat all day.
      2. You've done fuck all to help me!
      3. I'm so lazy, I did fuck all, all day.
      4. There was fuck all else he could have done.
      5. There are fuck all decent pubs around here.
      6. Most of the time he sat around doing fuck all.
      7. Don't blame me, mate - I had fuck all to do with it!
      8. Now that the wheel's broken, it's fuck all use to anyone.
      • Origin :
Eric Partridge's Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English leads me on this wild goose chase:

      Bugger all: (See damn all).

Damn all: (Bowdlerization of fuck all).

Fuck all: A low variant of damn all : Nothing :

C**t is a hated word here, but pretty much normalized there, I think.

Thanks to both of you. Makes a bit of sense now. And true, we use 'custom made' or some such.
