I can't seem to remember Ravi Shankar's nor Tim Hardin's performances appearing in the Woodstock documentary... am i wrong?
Why is that? I like his LAST song too. In case you haven't heard, I have discovered dates, names, and events that link the original Woodstock festival and at least one of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Believe it or not. Joe Cockers performance is part of a very significant connection. I have explained the connections at length in my threads psychedelic drug pushers, The Axis Of Evil That Bush Did Not Talk About, and others. And there is my personal site at the end of my signature.
I have more than just one----Jimi Hendrix playing "the star spangle banner" literally made the hair stand up on my arms! I'd close my eyes and picture myself there--Janis Joplin with her powerful voice is another; two great icons of the time. Canned Heat and Santana kicked some butt too. I was all of 13 when woodstock 69 came around. I wanted to go so bad but my dad wouldn't let me; I'll assume the age. Helen--aka sunshine
Yeah. Pretty much spot on. The Monterrey pop festival of '67 was musically greater. The dream was ending by Woodstock '69, and it shows in the documentary. Altamont put the nail in the coffin. By 1970, the two greats, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin were dead, neither have ever been surpassed. Jim Morrison went along with them in 1971.
hi kiddo " was out shopping other day and entered a shop called music zone " this is a shop in the uk . anyways saw this dvd called woodstock diaries ( 3 hours of footage that was not shown on the original video ) janis joplin " ravi shanker " tim hardin " jefferson " who " john sebastion " and many more " also behind the scenes footage . man what a bargain £ 2. 99 (not sure what that is in dollars ) but i would recomend it to all ..............peace
Damn, it must of been amazing!!! They still tour. Well the new Canned Heat. They play alot of gigs in Germany. Maybe someday I'll pop over and catch them.
It was amazing, I saw them here at Germany the 1st time in 1974 and last year again, only the drummer, Fito De La Parra left over from the original line up, but nevertheless, they are still a fine Boogie band. Back to topic, my personal favourite is Arlo Guthrie and his song 'Coming to Los Angeles'
i would say all of the above, janis joplin, hendrix, santana, joe cocker,it was great i love to rent the video and watch it over and over. did any of you go to woodstock? i remember seeing in plastered all over the newspapers, so very cool, too bad woodstock II wasn't as great. hippiewise
I've never seen the movie but I'm gonna buy as soon as I can. Just a question, are all the performances complete?
