RIGHT ON Sometimes I shave, sometimes I don't. I love the feel of both but it really depends on the area. I feel tempted to shave at times because I've been socially conditioned to expect it of myself and anticipate others' expectations for it. I can't help that all the time. Society can have a powerful influence on people's minds, whether or not we like it. I'm working on untangling those strings of my psyche and letting go of what others think. I don't think shaving or not shaving as anything to do with being feminine or hippie. Like Piaf says, it's personal.
I stopped shaving my armpits about 2 months ago.. they've got pretty bushy. My legs I'm not sure about, I shaved them last night, I don't really know why. The hair nearer my ankles gets thick and dark. I might try waxing that for a bit to get it thinner and lighter then leave it. Or bleach it or something. For those people that seem to think it's unclean and you smell more if you don't shave your armpits, from personal experience I can say that is not really very true. I think I actually smell less. I think the hair acts as a wick for sweat and draws it away from the skin, so it isn't left there to get warm and wet, letting bacteria grow, which causes BO. It also acts as a barrier for the friction you'd get when moving about. Friction creates more sweating. So more hair, less sweat.
i dont mean to seem like i'm picking on you piaf, just that since i've been back in this forum you've been posting so anyways, i feel that it is part of your personality, it's a physical part of it
there are many more aspects to consider about why maybe she has a hard time keeping them, and if it's a struggle between them because she doesn't shave, then her boyfriends have some centering they need to do
Its okay. If shaving is a part of one's personality, then being fat is also. Or having brown hair. I really dislike body hair. I don't like it, don't want to have it. Cosmo has NOTHING to do with that. I just like the feeling of silky, smooth skin. So does that make me superficial ?
recently i have stopped shaving and started waxing everything on me. Genitals, legs, armpits...all. I really think shaving is one of the worst mistakes a woman can do. It can only make your hairs ticker and fuller and harder to get rid of. I don`t like having even a single hair on my body. my head is the only place where i let hair grow. if i could i would get rid of every single tiny miniy micro hair in my nose too!
i shave because it makes me feel good. there was a 2 year period where i did not shave and it felt good at that point in my life. but now i feel like shaving. my husband does not care either way. he thinks i'm sexy! ^_^ it is all in how i feel.
i feel it is part of it, because it's all through the choices you make. you choose to be fat. having brown hair is a different case, because it's natural.. unless of course you dye it, then that also is a choice ..which is all part of your mind set, which your mind set reflects through your character if you feel that way, no it doesn't make you superficial, i respect that choice as long as it is your choice
I don't shave, I think hair is sexy on men as well! I like to inspire people, showing girls they actually have a choice.. not combing my hair, not shaving, no bras, no undies.. I feel free!
I could never do it. I have this weird thing about hair on my body, I used to shave my arms and everything but now I just shave certain areas. I can't go more than a couple of days without shaving. Its kind of ridiculous really.
i don't know why they just can't like hairy women and be ok. but I'm know really sure what you're meaning by centering?
I shave my legs in summer if I want to wear a dress or skirt, and shave my armpits about once a week all the time (armpit hair is one thing I cant stand) Otherwise, no shaving. Dont touch my legs in winter. I had to trim downstairs this morning and I hated doing it. The one time I shaved down there totally I absolutely hated looking at myself until it was all back
i stopped shaving my legs and underarms about this time last year and havent looked back since. its saved me money, ie cost of razors, water and shaving cream. and my girlfriend doesnt mind one bit, so i dont see a problem with it
the only thing i find with not doing my legs [i dont shave them over winter] is that my skin gets really dry and flakey, and no amount of cream will soften it =[ and in the summer when i shave them every week or whatever, i come out in rashes, and get ingrowing hairs etc.. its just a silly cycle of crap legness
i went without shaving my legs for quite a while, when i didnt have a job or anywhere to go. hell, i hardly got dressed during that time. anyways, i now shave my legs on my days off because i just like them to be smooth and dont like the feeling of the hair getting caught on my pantlegs. i always shave my under arms though because its too hot if i dont. i dont have any problem with other people not shaving though, thats just my personal preference.
I've been fuzzy since 1995 and I'm thinking of wax/sugaring just to play. I figure regrowth would be simple from pulled out, less prickly stubble. I'm curious what they'd be like now smooth. But I don't relish the idea of keeping it up. luckily neither of my partners seems to care. One is into fuzz. the other has no preference, for now.
