I haven't heard the album yet. But I don't like the way they're being promoted, like in the TV promotions for their CD:

"What do you get when Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and the White Stripes collide in outer space? Wolfmother!"

What? That's so fucking lame. It's stupid for a band to promote themselves by defining their sound as a blend of three rock 'n' roll legends who they know everyone listens to and loves. I find it cheap.

It's fine to cite and pay homage to your musical influences but it's just stupid to use those names to promote your own band.

    true

however, you must think... what are the odds that wolfmother had any say in that ad?

besides i guess they deny being influenced by sabbath and zeppelin

    Good point.

I don't think so. Who would believe that? They're definately influenced by Black Sabbath.

exactly...i think they had none....and to hit the market in america is huge for australian bands....here in australia, there is a lot of debate about the fact that their music has been far too overplayed on the radio stations, but i have seen them live and they have the vibe...

i've seen them live bout 3 times now and they are unlike anything today. although u can tell there musical influences how is that saying there not good. its what we need its bringing great classic sound with a new twist back to the scene and its fab. i mean i cant think of that many bands today that i wanna see live. everything i love is dead so wolfmother just do it 4 me. and i saw them on an interview saying how they hate the way they are promoted using oter bands names. PLUS there Aussie just like me SO i gotta support them all they way and so should all of u
post good stuff bout them and see them live its orgasmic!
    peace out

I think they are the most unoriginal bands out there now, and dare I say it, even worse than the strokes or the darkness. Ive seen this done for years and years.... the same derivitive rock n roll bands coming out, and kids think its the best thing since sliced bread......

I think its pathetic, but thats just me, and just shows the age gap, I guess.

say what you will about 'throwback' bands, but i am so friggin' sick of hip hop being shoved down our throats. thats not even music.
and just because its true rock and roll doesnt make it a throwback.

but all I have to say is "woman, you re a woman, blh balh balh woman" is a terribly lame song, for instance Led Zeppelin put a lot of thought and soul and true living into their songs, I doubt this australian throwback band has had even one night of trancedence that compares..once again style over substance, not bad musically, but sort of playing into the desperation of modern times to find somethin real without really producing anything of true value

    its the truth

but you kids are grasping on a pathetic attempt at rock n roll. there are much better bands out there than that.

and I didnt know they are australian, that makes alot of sense though..... aussies like to copy styles of yesteryear, ie silverchair and acdc.

I think they are pretty terrible. They had one of their concerts on demand so I decided to check it out. I had trouble sitting through it. It was boring, bland music with no feeling and I personally think the singer's voice is annoying. With so many bands out there, people should start searching themselves instead of waiting for bands to be put on tv. Wilco could use a few more fans..and they are pretty close to being the next best thing since sliced bread:D lol

i agree about wolfmother tho, i think they put too much thought into the style of music and not the words or music itself. its like, you listen to them once and your like 'man, this is great!' but it gets old. kinda like, well actually a lot like jet. (yet another aussi throwback band, man what is it with those guys?;))

I seen one of their video's on Much just flipping through the channels the other day. They were good. But they reminded me too much of jet like you said lucy. I didn't mind jet when they first came out. Then everyone was freaking out about them sooo much and I heard their music soo much. Probably because it was everywhere, commercials, video games, radio, everywhere. It got so old and annoying. I can see that happening to wolfmother as well.

I know you're not claiming that AC/DC are copying styles of "yesteryear"
