I wouldn't go so far as to say pinnacle. But I would like to add that there would be a huge jump in productivity when going from paper ledgers (for example) to Excel 2010.
I'm going to hold out with Windows 7 as long as I can, then I guess I'll switch back to Ubuntu again or something. Windows 8 looks fucking retarded, I don't want my desktop to act like my phone.
funny, i hated it so much, back in time, that i switched to the not so mature linux distros of the time. with them i had to learn things like, say, manually edit X configuration to get a mouse wheel working, compile and insert nvidia modules, compile a custom kernel to add support for usb or some audio adaptor , but at least with linux i had control over the system, got rid of the plethora of bugs that made that crap so easy to exploit, of the whole antivirus drag, of stupid and degradating things like 'fixing the system registry' , 'defragmenting the disk unit' , and having periodically to reinstall all the circus because it got so messed up it was impossible to recover. if youre right, then windows XP should be a load of crap beyond imagination, but to be honest i have a win XP Oracle VM in my debian system and in my very limited experience it runs smoothly even within the restraints of a Virtual machine. i have periodically to cope with windows 7, typically on laptops, and does not look very practical to me. no, definitely my home is Linux, and the windows 98 SE days are just an old horror tale of sundays lost REINSTALLING OS AND DRIVERS AND APPS AND SHIT etc. thumbs down for that crap shack. but after all even North Korea has fans ...
