i was just going to make a post about fungus on tomatoes, this kinda helped me out, although my tomatoes are getting it on the tomato, not the leaves or stems. its so sad, and very disgusting actually. all the tomatoes are getting this brown fungus looking stuff on the bottom half of them, and they are growing all bumpy. i'm having a terrible time with my garden this year! i think i'll try to do some research on google, i think it may be too late to treat my plants now, but i want to at least know what's going on! EDIT: i just did some research, looks like my tomatoes have got blossom end rot. don't know what i'm gonna do about this, i guess maybe go and try to find something that will provide them with calcium, and make sure they get just enough water, but not too much. hope its not too late! i was so looking forward to some fried green tomatoes!
blossom end rot needs calcium. take a mixture of half milk and half water and spray the plants. repeat every few days..
One of my san marzanos has started showing signs of BER, so it looks like we'll be giving the milky water a shot after all... Christ, my soil SUCKS.
It's been raining pretty much nonstop for a few weeks here. Guess that's it. The cooler temps have been holding up my peppers, too... It's so frustrating.
do you have some epsom salts? if so mix up 1 cup to 5 gals of water. From your earlier posts you water them very heavy. Let the soil dry out some then water them with the epsom salts water they will green up really well and produce a good crop of tomatoes. What are you using for fertilizer?
Miracle Grow Organic Choice I think I got it with the milk. It was only one san marzano plant that was doing the BER thing. I sprayed them all anyway. After a week, it went back to normal. And the wilt is totally gone. I've got all kinds of fruit popping out. The beefsteaks are getting really huge. Not turning, though. Kind of disappointing. I had buckets of tomatoes by this time last year. I'll keep this in mind, though. Or should I do it anyway as a preventative measure?
