I smoked when I was 14 and it quite frankliy saved my life. My teenage years were heading in a bad direction full of rage and anger. When I would smoke pot I didn't feel angry and all those feelings of rage seemed so silly and wrong. It helped set my life in the right direction. All you ney-sayers with your smack-talking and your angry tones should fuck off. Everyone is intitled to there opinion but there is no need for all the angry sarcastic responses.
This thread is getting off track...it's not about whether or not smoking pot is OK for anyone, or even for teenagers...it's just why your parents don't want you to... Obviously, in my eyes and everyone else that lives with their parents, they know they are responsible enough to handle smoking (few exceptions aside...a lot of exceptions to this outside of this forum...my god some kids are retarded) and understand the consequences etc... I don't think we are the kids parents should be worrying about...naturally they're going to worry as far as law and such goes so no matter what, unless your parents are very open minded, they're never going to approve or even be passive of your smoking...I think it's just best to go about a don't ask don't tell policy. As long as you aren't running around arguing with your parents, then it'll get out of their mind eventually and they'll stop worrying. If your parents are extremely worried about you (don't say "Bitchy about your smoking" they're not bitchy...they're worried about you...and from the way pot is treated, they probably should be) then maybe you need to make a decision, pot or your parents sanity...and if you choose pot, then they were right in being worried for you...even if your parents are right or wrong in doing so. Just have your parents best interest in mind when you toke, be safe, avoid getting caught by the law by smoking only when a safe opportunity arises etc...avoid the law and most of your parents will forget over time...
As a parent myself the thing that would worry me the most apart from the legallity issue and flunking school would be this - the thought of my 14 year old daughter visiting some dangerous drug dealers crack den to buy weed. Guns, dirty needles, serious criminals and fucked up addicts. I do not under any circumstances ever want my child to be in a situation like that (I lived like that for 4 horrific years) I would rather buy weed for her from a safe source than ever let her take a risk like that.
i realy have to say ive bought from a large number of people in alot of different places and ive never ran into anyone with a gun, or tryed to jump me or offerd me other drugs or serious additics, ive even bought from people in projects in the city my cousin lives in, everyone there was realy nice even tho there where crack dealers living at the end of the street, i do see where your coming from, i have bought coke from people and hung out with coke dealers which was SHADY when a guy pulls out a coke rock almost the size of a baseball you relay dont want to stick around for long and when the cops are outside your house and you and your firend have an 8 ball and your on your 12thshits fucked up, but i think this violence and gang related stuff is bullshit as far as marijuana is concerd, i would definitly NOT give my kid weed if he/she was under the age of 18, i would definitly take a look at it too see if it was kosher first.
I just dont ever want my kids hanging out with the same sort of people I did, I ended up with them through necessity not choice. Most dealers who only have a bit of bud are usually pretty decent people, and luckily serious dealers dont bother with weed as there just isnt enough money involved. BUT, if my kids toke and try to hide it from me, then there is always the risk that they would end up in a crack den, and I never ever want my kids to go anywhere near a place like that. The drug scene/violence/gun crime/fucked up addicts is definatley not bullshit in Bristol. Its shady as fuck and very very scary, any other members of this forum from the UK will confirm that.
My mother thinks its ok if i smoke in the weekend and some weekday acceptions. Ofcourse I do alittle bit more then that (not much) but she doesn't mind me doing it at all. And parents believe all the anti-drug folders or don't wanna see their child like that.
Thank you. No offense to anyone that says this but it is a big pet peeve for me. Also a some of kids who smoke have grades that plummet and gain weight and just laze around instead of doing anything. They like to fuck it up for us active stoners.
I don't think that pot should be approved by anyone. Everyone can still hate it as much as they do now if it was just legalized. Honestly, it doesn't make a difference wether it's legal or not. I guess the best example to use would be people stealing satellite signals. That's illegal too, but most parents who steal their signal probably still look harshly upon the use of marijuana.
Two very different issues with very very different consequences. also, remember the fail-proof parenting rule....Do as I say, not as I do
I get good grades in tough classes and I'd say I'm a nice person. The parents still worry. What's funny is: they're really old. They compare me to the original hippies of their generation. That's probably the main reason my parents look down on it, the stigma of the lazy pothead that doesn't really do anything with his life. Myself, I'm worried about the cops. Although a cop helped get my car out of some snow today, which was cool as fuck.. Legalize.
There is a down side to marijuana use. (There is a down side to everything.) Why don't you ask them why they are against it? If you ask and listen, you should get a straight answer without the yelling. Its a shame that too many kids and parents don't talk about subjects like this until there is some crisis. Crisies (what is the plural of crisis?) are where yelling and punishing come easily. Away from crisis is better for communication.
when my parents found out i was smoking pot i had all a's and b's and they were still mad. my dad said that he didnt want me to get killed, which is way over reacting. my mom said that if i was smoking pot i was probably doing worse things like speed or i was out whoring myself around town every night. i think that most parents have illegitiment fears about their children getting hurt or they dont trust them
It must suck having parents who dont let you smoke. My parents smoke with me and all they said was, Dont take it to school and dont get caught.
just happened to me today. I got caught, have amazing grades, and a 3 season athlete. And yes, they cared. They said it was a gateway drug and would lead to coke *not true. i know far too many coked out guys* And that id get addicted. I argued it and shut em down on many topics. Didn;t get punished... yet atleast... but if im caught again.
Yeah! You don't do stupid things on perfectly legal things like nutmeg and escpessially alcohol!!...*irony* The first illegal drug I tried was opium...*PERFECT GRIN* Man!... Tried it once. Made it myself... All I can say about it is DON'T DO IT! Even though it's FUCKING good it is extremely addictive, TOO good actually(yes, it is possible). Light that shit, smoke that shit, pass that shit!!
Crises is the word I believe. But anywho, I'm sure you've encountered your share of fearful americans. Long ago when I asked my mother why she was against pot (and believe me she is a yeller), her first answer was: because it's illegal. OK so without getting too in depth with why that is just ludicrous, her second answer was along the lines of: I know people who have smoked pot all their lives and they are a mess. IDK if pot was the only thing they've been smoking their whole lives living in "the asshole of the northeast" as i like to call it. Lots of heroin cocaine and crack cocaine is more likely what led to them being so fucked up, or the fact that their parents were hookers, crack fiends, crack dealers, junkies, who the fuck knows. Some people, you just CAN'T persuade them to accept truth, unless the mass media tells it to them. It's sad, but true.
Because its illegal, and the government and police force are out to fuck you these days, not like it was back when our parents were kids, when drunk driving wasn't frowned upon, and pot was more over looked than it is today.
