not really my thing, but at least these dudes can play..guitar actually stays in the right key during lead and they sing in pitch. I scanned through quite a few tracks in this style, and its no wonder its in the death throws. Almost every track were wannabes just wanting to trip and have a good time.Who cant play or sing..or even tune up for shit sake. However all is not lost! Here is a group who obviously gives a damn about music and are keeping the style alive. Doinga decent job of it tonly drawback, is I didnt hear anything other than Hendrix copied licks..who cares tho, right.

Asmo, you might like these cats, not only do they play that trippy space rock you seem to really like,but they're playing it very well. Their dynamics are killer.

It's funny that you post Chevelle who have mentioned Helmet as one of their biggest influences. I'm surprised theprodu hasn't even heard of them. The 90s weren't that long ago.

Funny you guys talk about influences...then I post perhaps one of the biggest influences on your bands and you make fun of it.

I dont make fun of anyone. If you cant play, you cant play, and youre putting out bad mixes to boot, I will say so.Having an influence doesnt always mean youre going copy them . But it can influence you to play it better than the influence played it.Which, Chevelle managed to do.Chevelle put out a really good song..does it mean all their stuff is good?Nope. This track however is executed well, mixed well and it has a great sound.I like it, so I posted it.

 

Neon, the Helmet vid you posted a minute ago in my opinion was the best song they ever did...And it is a good one. 92 was more than 20 years ago tho..

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong. You posted older songs. So I posted some older songs. Now you guys want this thread to go back to new songs only? Fine. Not interested in getting into a pissing contest and didn't think that was what we were doing.

Well I guess I prefer older bands to newer bands at this point. They're old, but if rock is alive, they still have a big part of keeping it alive. Maybe this is just a thread for briezie to post songs she likes, though.

It's so utterly pointless. At least I hope we all understand that what's best is subjective and based on taste. Not just on skills or knowledge. Especially with such a broad and diverse thing as rock.

I noticed you did say about some stuff I shared that they can't play. If you are really serious about that I have a hard time taking you serious at all. All bands I shared can play, maybe they just don't play like you or are focussing on such a specific sound that you don't care for. that you can't recognize their ability. I don't know why you say they can't play though.
Good rock is not about sounding as professional or well produced as possible. It doesn't hurt of course but as pointed out before it isn't everything in music, and especially not in music with that rock 'n roll essence.

All songs I shared in this thread are of this millenium, so not that old. Maybe 2 songs are from the late 90's. I do not see the point of posting old rock and ol bands in a thread like this.

 

I have an idea! Why dont we just post the shit we like..the stuff we think keeps rock alive. If someome posts NICKLEBACK or anything else they want to contribute, lets just keep our snide remmarks to ourselves and keep posting! Post em all and Let the op sort them out.
P.s. Asmo, I know when someone is not proficient on their instrument ok. Has nothing to do with any sound I like or dislike. If your shit isnt in tune, and you play your scales out of key, you cant play. It has nothing to do with taste , opinion or pref of any kind. I even brought in a vid, in your style where the dudes can play their stuff and declared so. You didnt care for it., no big deal.
