Why is heroin so scathed by even the most promising of recreational drug users?

Done some heroin here and there but never made it a habit in any way. I can see where it could be a bad addiction but as far as the stigma look at crack, even tweakers look down upon crack.

 

Yeah, totaly man, you are a jerk if you choose one substance over another or prefer a different drug to what i prefer.

Personally, I haven't and won't use it, injecting it just seems a bit too scary, cos dealers can cut all sorts of shit with it. I know what you're saying though, anyone can drink or do coke and it's socially acceptable, but I don't know why not heroin, cos is a heroin addict any worse than a coke addict or an alcoholic? I think it's just got a reputation about it that I don't think will ever go away. In my opinion, if someone wants to use it, fine by me, but personally I wouldn't.

Heroin is not like other drugs. My mom used it for 3 years when I was a kid and she has never been the same. It changes the way your brain works on a while different level than coke or ecstacy does. Heroin withdrawl is deadlier and more intense than any other drug known to man. I, on occasion use cocaine, and I used to use oxycontin. I would never even dream of even holding heroin in my hands. Once your addicted to it, you'll do anything to get it...anything. sell your house, your car, your children, you'll lose your friends, your family, you lose your faith in god, in mankind, In yourself. You'll be reduced to a shadow of a human being within a year selling your body and whatever material possesions you have left just so you don't have to go through those withdrawls again. My moms boyfriend said using heroin makes you feel like god is holding you in his arms comforting you, you feel one with god, until you stop using it, you realize it was a dream all along. And your entire reality has come crashing down, your world comes to a halt and you stare at the wreckage that used to be your life. Now it's too late, you've lost your money, your family, your health, you've scarred your children for life, and you feel like god has abandonded you. This is how heroin is different, after losing everything, you see no reason not to continue. Once you've fallen into the addiction, there is no coming back. For the rest of your days you will constantly have to fight the urge to go back, that's if you survive the first time around.

 

I hate to break it to you but Meth and other drugs can do it to you to. The girl who I'm kinda seeing, her dad is in jail for burning a house down on meth and he's already had problems with Meth before apparently. I binged on ketamine for awhile and while I wasn't that bad some people around me where shooting up any chance they got and looked completely lifeless. I mean that's one thing I agree with the op on its not the only drug that can destroy you, but from what I've heard its a tough one to kick and refrain from going back to. See like right now talking about ketamine triggers something that makes me want to do it, I didnt get that deep in though.

 

makng meth is a dangerous task indeed, but heroin production Funds Terrorism. The Taliban uses it to fund they're training camps. Meth itself is closely related to cocaine, it's like super cocaine (lol). It mAkes you feel happy, alive, and confident. Heroin takes you to the other extreme, you feel dead. It takes your mind to a darker place which is what makes it affect is users differently

B-terrier, I don't wanna be dick, but how can you sound off about how horrible and 'dark' heroin is without ever doing it? What real gets me is how you said you've done oc, but you won't touch that 'life destroying' dope? OC is the same fucking thing as heroin! They are all members of the opiate family but just because heroin has a different name it's the worst drug out there. So painkillers are ok because the government makes them? I think the gov gives dope a bad name because they want peeps to buy their 'medical dope' so they get a cut from it. (the biggest supporter on the war on drugs is alky/tobacco/pharm companies. They want you to buy their deadlier products cause it's legal. If you could grow pot/opium those mega corporations would go broke. I was hardcore addicted to heroin, but I never hurt or ripped anyone off. In the end it is YOU who makes the choice to do wrong, not the drug.

 

In my eyes alcohol is the worst drug out there, how many people die from heroin car crashes a year? Cigs, they kill more peeps a year than aids, fires, murder, od's, and car crashes combined. But it's ok, cigs don't get you high and they're legal. Guess it's ok for hundreds of millions people to die each year just as long they don't get high in the process.
Meth and coke closely related? Nope, coke is the alkaloid from the coca plant, meth is chemically made with ephedra products usually. I believe meth and coke even work on different receptors/functions on the body.
Sorry if I pissed you off Terrier, but it's just not right to bash stuff from the info you received second hand, take a scientific route next time and study the 'facts' about drugs. Don't go spittin works cause so-and-so said this or that about a drugs bad standing, Not everyone fucks there life up with hard drugs, heroin is just like anything else. You gotta respect it and discipline yourself to enjoy it in moderation.

But hey, look at all those people that died or got fucked up from new medical/health drugs on the market. Once again I guess it's ok not to fully test the dangers of these 'miracle' drugs before they hit mainstream America. Like I said, it's ok for people to die as long as they don't get high while doing it.

And things at home are as good as they can get I guess. I haven't touched H, but I did do oxy. I like that quote too and I wouldn't be surprised if you get flamed for it. It's weird how this site is supposed to be for freedom of speech and expression and the hippie life style but its being filled with more and more fundamentalists everyday.

Same ole same ole, just hangin out in the teenage wasteland. I think most of the flaming is done by peeps who are still 'wet behind the ears'. They have no firsthand experience or actual knowledge of the 'hard edged' truth. Can't stand how people knock my habits/lifestyle without actually having 'been there done that'. Why should I be a degenerate just because I like to responsibly use hard drugs? No one has the right to tell me what I can put in my body, our fore-fathers (founders of America) put in the Declaration Of Independance that we the people are rightfully allowed to ingest/use any substance that we choose to do so. But guess what, the government has changed our rights to suite their needs for whatever diabolical plans they wish to gain from. Kinda sounds like our rights mean jack shit, more and more I see the US as a tyranical entity. Some have even made remarks that America is turning into a Nazi Germany. If they can bend our rights as they please whats next?
