No, but i'm not dreaming about swimming to cuba either.

I personally don't think the majority of Cubans are content with it.

Do you seriously think they are content with making $20 a month?

I can't take credit for that, i just provided a link, geeez.

    because you said
I showed you a few "possible" other reasons for the embargo.Nationalizing US property was just one of them.

    :leaving:

Then they should probably have a revolution. I personally think the country should be able to trade with America just like China. I personally think a lot of Cubans like the country they live in. I think America is just keeping them under it's thumb, not allowing it's economy to thrive until they give up and turn capitalist. And while we're doing that they insult them by allowing Audioslave to play there... hahaha.

I just heard Raul was doing something about that...

    :rolleyes:brilliant.

    Great.:leaving:

I still don't think just because they are there, that they are content with their country or supportive of their leaders. "Seems to be" is just an opinion, not a fact.

Yes, workers a minimum of 5%= $1 yippee!

    Managers up to 30%=$6

    30% is alot, but $6 isn't.

I say lift the embargo and see what happens.

Good then we agree.... to tell you the truth... I dont care what the Cuban people think of their leader or how bad they have it... they especially have a past based in revolution and know what it takes...

Same problem I have with Iraq... I dont think we should be fucking around in other peoples houses like this... we get ourselves in to bigger shit later.

Lift the embargo let's see what happens.. I agree.

I too, could care less what they think of their leader,
but i do have concerns on how bad they have it.

Same as Iran, we here in the USA are far outside their missile range, let those countries that live inside the
(1300-1500 km) range worry about it.

I still SUPPORT OUR TROOPS tho

I'm pretty sure the people of Cuba don't have it that badly, there are alot of worse off places in Africa for certain, places where the leaders of the countries are murder and killing their own people in droves..
Hell, the people in the audience at the Audioslave concert in revolution square seemed well dressed and happy. You don't see that kind of thing in Rwanda.

While I think Castro was a stubborn ass for sticking so regimentally to his ideas even when the embargo destroyed his economy the US is just as stubborn for keeping an embargo on the country for so long.
Drop the embargo! Cuba will trade and advance and eventually have more and more democratic capitalist tendencies like China. Or they might not, but it's their choice, their country.

As for supporting the troops, I support them staying alive, i support my friends coming home from their fucking 4th tour safe. And I support Iraqis taking over the reigns.

to respond to the OP, whats so "communist" about everyone getting the same pay? in socialism (Cuba is theoretically socialist) workers get paid according to how much labor they provide.

My Princess tells me that when she was a young person growing up in Cuba that she operated tractors and other machinery from Soviet Union, East Germany and Checzslovakia. She met many persons from those nations who were serving in Cuba as technicians to fix said machinery and such.

Tell me, who made out better than Fidel Castro, He is listed somewhere in the Forbes 500 list of richest people.

Like William The Conqueor in 1066 he is the de-facto ruler of his own island nation.
    ...................................................................................................
    Updated:

The Princess tells me that one of the problems with Trucks from European manufacturers was that the diesel fuel truck had been engineered for northern lattitudes. That diesel combustion uses much greater heat than a conventional engine. Use of the truck in a tropical environment meant overheating the engine, burning the oil melting plastic and rubber components. She said that there was nothing wrong with the truck for use in North Europe but that it was out of place in Cuba.

Cuba is not that stable and a lot of people are unhappy.. the main ingredients for a revolution.

The change of a leader is a weakness in an already unstable government. It is just basic politics to announce some “change” to calm the unstable thoughts of the public.

    Basic Latin American politics.

The embargo has recently backfired since other countries like China are drilling for oil in Cuban waters very close to Florida. There are concerns that the Chinese companies are dangerous and will have spills, and will drill horizontally into US oil reserves.

The US Embargo did not stop trade with Canada, Mexico Venezuela Spain and perhaps a few others. Wealthy nations of Europe do not produce thier own cane sugar and tobacco so a willing market exists for those products. There is a basis for Cuban trade with other nations. Americans purchase Cuban cigars in Canada.

Yes, they survived the 'good times' of USA. Now while in USA crisis is starting the Cuba will arise from the shell was hide. When in USA more difficult times will come people will start to think about common wealth - not only the top of their noses so there is a chance that they stop doing harm to others.
Will the Cuban people will have a chance to live like a people? Ask your fathers.

I really didn't understand your broken english, but i know this: People escape from Cuba and swim, run and crawl to get into the U.S. risking their lives to do so, not the other way around. tells you about all you need to know doesn't it?

:chillpill:what is good for them as a nation may not be a full belly, TV and cold beer. Conformists had to make that one direction swim (but what is a single swim according to whole life) kra kra kra

How about free elections, free press, the freedom to assemble with like minded people, the freedom to question and criticize your government, ect

there are no bigger conformists than the commies. Maybe the cubans don't come for beer and t.v. and food (although not starving is always a good thing, right?). Maybe they come for their own reasons, reasons that can not be accomplished in a dictatorship. Have you been to cuba? Met anyone who has escaped from that island prison hell hole? "Fuck Castro!" they say, the people of miami wait in eager anticipation for the day their familyies are free from tyranny. i do not agree with the U.S. sanctions, i do not think they have had the effect that we would have liked on the regime. But defending that mass murderer Castro or his evil commie policies is ridiculous.

Well you could always read their various political newspapers and see if they'd rather have universal healthcare or...

    no wait, you can't.

Oh, you can always approach one of the opposing political parties and ask them if they'd rather have free education or....

no wait you can't do that either.

so i guess we just have to take your word and that of their overlord that the cuban people think free education and free healthcare are worth giving up... well... everything else. Because if we ask the cuban people and they answer, they risk imprisonment of course, but hey free flu shots for all!
