I completely agree with you. However one cannot really say who should and who should not. But I do agree with your theory.
lol im imagining this drunk clown talking to him about acid and saying "what kind of mother brings a drunk clown to a party?" then i got it.. but I do agree with this. A lot of young teens can be unaware of what damage it can do and just continue to get high. I see it today. a 16 year old who started at 13 with weed, got bored and moved to all these psych drugs that ive never even heard of and almost overdosed because of not knowing how to be careful with it. Now he cant stop talking about it and got other young teens hooked on it. Its sad and stupid at the same time.
I'm only 15 and I've taken acid, coke, shrooms, ket, mephadrone, smoke weed, hash, salvia, whip its, and more. I'm fine. I actually used to have a twitch before I started taking drugs which is gone. I probably just grew out of it but, whatever. I've had two freak outs and I bounce back clean as a whistle once I stop tripping. As I said, if you can handle it.
This thread has been around a bit and I would like to add to what I have already posted. After giving it alot of very serious thought I have come to the following conclusion and I'm going to stick to it. Young teens shouldn't trip and for that fact neither should anybody else. You might skin your knee and get a boo-boo.
Sometimes tripping can lead for a person to really start grasping the world and the meaning around themselves and their interactions. I believe age isn't as much a factor as the person themselves. Betty Sue who gets drunk every friday with her girlfriends probably shouldnt trip. Johnny Smith who sometimes doesn't fit in all the right crowds and feels already somewhat connected to this universe... hm well maybe we should start him off on one tab
^definitely agree with this. to trip or not to trip is *entirely* individual and subjective. people are all different and psychologically they develop at all different ages. since the psychological aspect is the most important one when discussing these substances, it is my belief that age does not really correspond with ability to handle psychedelic experience very much... I am 16 and have eaten a decent amount of psychs, and I feel it has been nothing but positive pretty much and thank All for every experience. yet I know many my age and even older who should very much not consume these molecules.
i smoke herb a lot and im a teenager....i was going to take shrooms but now im having some second thoughts
Saying LSD is safer than caffeine is asinine. Caffeine may have some detrimental effects especially to the cardio-vascular system over time, but the effects of psychedelics can be instant, permanent, and not for the better. The thing is this is true for people of any ages but especially so with teenagers who are developing their mature perception of the world, both in how they view it and literally in the fact the brain is still growing rapidly at say 14. Also teenage invincibility mixed with drugs can always be disastrous.
Estimation of deaths in America each year for caffeine: 1,500. Estimation of deaths in America from LSD, psilocybin, DMT, and many other harmless psychedelics to choose from: 0. I understand where your coming from. Teens grow up and begin to get a sense of what reality has in store for them. They start to learn how to take responsibility and get a good sense of the world in front of them. But people grow up at different stages. Different levels of maturity, responsibility, intelligence, awareness, and wisdom. I'm 16 myself. I use entheogens as tools and keys to enter my inner consciousness. I hang around with 19-25 year olds who use psychedelics to get fucked up and have a party. Though the ages from 16-25 may not differ that much, I think it's obvious who makes the more mature choices among us. Most psychedelics are the safest substances on the planet. Even safer than the water running from your faucet.
Those deaths from caffeine are as Madcapsyd was pointing out all attributed to heart and cardiovascular complications from long term use. You are wrong if you think no one dies under the influence of psychedelics. There are also numerous hospital visits due to psychedelics on top of that. We are talking about teenagers here. Psychedelics can have way more detrimental effects to a vulnerable mind than caffeine. You can believe and even be told you have a certain level of maturity, that does not mean your brain and body is fully developed yet. Psychedelics seem to catalyze alot more irreversible damage then caffeine. At the worst caffeine may be said to cause mood swings and depression in teenagers, but psychedelics can as well plus a whole host of other worse symptoms..
Actually, Ayahuasca(DMT) using tribes and religions in Brazil and Peru do -not- use it this way at all. It's not just for shamans, it's for everyone. And they start young. Pregnant women use it, and children are given small doses about once a year, starting at about a year. So... No. Peyote was/is used the way you talk about, generally done only a few times for most people, more frequently by shamans. But generally starting at adulthood, in other words around 14-15. Iboga is used similarly, once for most at maturity, 13-15. In fact, that is the age that -most- psychedelic using religions start you out, at adulthood. Adulthood often being defined as menarche for girls, and arbitrarily but similar for boys. But basically always in the teen years. As another note, christianity uses a mild-altering substance as a sacrament as well. Wine. And this is generally offered to children. There's strong evidence that christianity borrowed this practice from other religions, via the widely traveled Gnostics. The use of wine was very likely a substitute for more potent elixirs that were scaled back in use as civilizations got larger. Many Brazilians use Ayahuasca just as often as Catholics take communion, and for very similar purposes.
This: Also, LSD is actually safer then -salt-, technically. Despite the fact that you need salt to survive, the LD-50 of LSD appears to be higher then salt. I agree on RCs, they need more study, but they still seem safer then many prescription psych meds. Mushrooms... Maybe go easy, light doses until you know them better. They are actually poisonous, and a really high dose can hurt you. Refined psylocybin is safer but virtually impossible to obtain. Also, DMT is very, very well tested, nearly as much as LSD in some ways, much more so in others, due to it being legal and openly practiced use for basically forever. Things I'd advise avoiding or limiting intake while your body is growing and your brain still forming: Pot. Caffeine. Many prescription psych meds particularly amphetamines and lithium, if you can. ADD is better then many alternatives. Non-prescribed prescription drugs. Opiates. MDMA/ecstasy. Oddly, the dissociatives aren't as bad for you, body-wise. I think tripping in your teens-early twenties is actually the best possible time for some people. I wouldn't recommend, for most, a constant diet. I'd more recommend very occasional use. For some though, the path of the shaman awaits, and that requires trials by fire. Just realize that if you take that path, including heavy psych use, your life will likely not be 'normal', or all that easy.
