well your people eventualy had the brush....before they did..they didnt before the 1st 1, none existed...see why i say everyones ancestors? ancestry goes back a long lomg way
only the op meant it for guys only we all love hearring evceryones reasons everyone ignores that anyway, look st every thread that says girls only or boys only in the title and you'll almost always notice the 1st reply is from the excluded group edit: just thought of another reason for long hair cause the ground that wears away at the ends is so far away from my head if i was 1/2 as tall the hair would be 1/2 as long to have short hair id hafta spend my days gettin round upside down
very long time ago it could be, or you can comb your hair with the hand works very good if you go earlyier in europian (or other) history, mohawks (bronze age), short hair, very short hair, and other things are find back or are a change that they were there (if you look at for example primitive african people, wich are people so it's not crazy to think that we could have act like that way of living). but why have long hair, what asmodean said... we could wrap our boddies in them so we don't need clothes
the very 1st comb or brush was from ancient egypt and i maybe wrong but i believe that leonardo divinnchi invented the very 1st scissors hair was originaly cut short (including mohawks) for the purposes of war it was cut off to prevent enemies from grabbing the hair to restrain you (except mohawks were a taunt, leaving just enough to grab and hold to behead or scalp...a i dare you to try asian cultures (ever watched a kung fu flick?) adopted an opposite technique, the warriors hair was worn long except on the forehead and top of head (where it would be typicaly grabbed) but the hair in the back would be worn very long an a tight braid which could be used as a weapon (or restrainrt) itself back on the subject of dreads you mentioned primitive african cultures, and that today is the belief of many who arent more aware, that dreads originated from african cultures which isnt completely true but depends on which theories of origijn you believe in, but what is clear is that throughout prehistory they were the predominant hair type in most early cultures havent looked into it so maybe talkin out of my ass here but to me this makes a bit of sence..the 1st attemptes to unknot and trim most likely came about around when the 1st examples of simple machinery came into use, levers whinches gears and wheels, unknotting and trimming would have been an act of prawcticality, not vanity, in an attept to prevent them from tangling in moving parts (i wouldnt say all of that is absolute fact, some is, the rest educated guesses based on known trends and some just random theories that popped to mind on the subject, i wasnt alive then i dunno what went on bgefore i was born..lol but i supose that before the simplest tools capable of unknotting and trimming hair existed fingers could have been used to unknot, and fire used to trim (i use fire to trim my beard when i smojke a too short joint)
my hair used to be super long and now its a little past my shoulders. i want long hair soooo bad but mine just seems to want to grow very slow... grrr
I don't see the topic of long hair as a men only thing, though I am a bit envious that women are so fortunate as to be able to sport long hair without being considered a freak in "main stream society." The Bible provides us with an account of long hair being the source of a man's power, I think that's valid. The short hair, corporate types are threatened by our power. Soaringeagle's got some impressive locks.
Hippies started wearing long hair out of rebellion. For those of us old enough to remember the early 60's, its was quite a shock when it first started coming in because almost all men in those days had short, well cut hair. Aside from someone like Einstein, men were EXPECTED to conform with short hair. Of course, hippies were non conformists. I started growing mine right after I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. But my hair has never been more than about 15 inches long. It simply won't grow any longer. I still have longish hair, but its thinned to the point where it dries in about 10 minutes. C'est la vie. x
Nice, I'll bet it's freakin' long now... Maybe long hair is a rebellion thing, but short corporate hair is a sorry state of affairs when you're in a public place and every guy you see has the buzz, yikes. I try to avoid those places, but sometimes it's impossible. The point of the imposed short hair thing is to strip us of our identity, and keep us emasculated so that we'll comply with The Agenda.
I would love to be able to grow my hair long still, but I'm 49 now and I've two great big bald patches. So I shave it nowadays, looks OK, but would prefer long hair. What I think though is that a person's attitudes are far more important than long hair for hippies. As long as you have a positive attitude towards spreading love and peace in the planet, and you develop these attitudes, then that's great! I reckon if you look closely enough at the old photos of the original hippies at the old love-ins, it is only the rare person who has really long hair, beard, and growing out bushy etc, Most of them had their ears showing. This makes me think that possibly long hair on hippies, I mean really long hair, was a media-driven concept, and was almost an enforced fashion! It was also short-sighted, because most of the original hippies will be losing hair about now! These are only some ideas, what do you think? Joe Jones.
Long hair makes you look more human and natural not some factory created person. Also its nice to feel and looks great.
Its fun, its free, it unintentionally speaks volumes about my personality, plus it pretty much shouts out i smoke weed and im not ashamed to admit it!!! it helps me new interesting people, and scares away the square ones plus my it helped me score my sweet girlfriend!! haha
