    Ok, so you ask me to provide evidence and research concerning the Bible as a reliable historical source. I comply and provide some rather substantial and definitive results for you, and you simply just dismiss the entire thing. Pretty much what I expected.
    You obviously are clueless about how such ancient documents/records are verified and validated. Everything you contend with in your above remarks ARE dealt with in the research provided.

    :rolleyes:

    So Asmo, was I wrong when I stated this;

    I fucking give up...

    He expressed trepidation that what he posted would violate HF rules and that same expression is in his preamble when he laid down the gauntlet.

    Well it would be less bright without you, steadfast. No one is dissin you. I have made the same point Darksugar has made in a different form concerning those statements of entitlement.

    Is there a rule about cutting and pasting info in a post?

    Yes, and posting lots of links is also frowned upon as well as directly posting/quoting scripture.
    So any attempts concerning Christian apologetics is already at a distinct disadvantage in this particular arena.
    but I'm hoping Balbus will be nice to me this time.:mickey:

    Yes, but I think you will notice that DS asked me one particular type of question and after I adequately responded, DS changed the initial premise of that question.
    DS didn't originally ask about proving any type of right to the land as is complained about in the recent post, only that the Bible was not a reliable source of historical data.

    Didn't think that little switcheroo would have escaped you. ;)

    Hey, there is that peace agreement about the two ways of standards for What the Past Is for archaeological research amongst the archaeologists. The rational credence past and the empirical natural scientific past.

    ISIS does claim to be Muslim; however, they don't act Muslim. They don't like other Muslims and they kill them. They kill them if the other Muslims do not obey ISIS. And ISIS does the killing with American made weapons. The NAZIs of Germany claimed to be Christian. Menahem Begin claimed Jews are a superior race. Nouri Al Maliki of Iraq is a Muslim and just condemned the attacks by ISIS against Christians in northern Iraq. It is easy to generalize about other people. A Muslim can easily say that Americans are cannibals after reading the story of the Donner Party, or the story of Alfred Packer in Colorado, or the news reports about Jefferey Dahmer. Generalizing and stigmatizing is usually a bad thing.

    It is not a historical deed to land by virtue of things said between peoples recorded there or by special claims to access. The claims are made but none appear in historical fact. People variously occupy the land in fact of the moment and history.

    Ahh you doubt me in thinking it did.
    I heard a disclaimer about previous comments that maybe they weren't expressed well in the beginning;

    Agreement
    and then follows the better worded question or point made.
    So this suspicion causes us to miss the real emerging current or gloss over what is said thinking it must have been insincere. I didn't miss the switcheroo, it just wasn't dishonest.

    But he, as though he violated some rule of conduct making your response just, is the the name on the business card of the ego that doesn't recognize his own complicity in forming his own dishonest perceptions or perceptions of dishonesty.

    Whichever, without getting to deep and philosophical about it, bottom line, I provided the info that was requested and we can see how well it was received or rather dismissed by the requester.

    So in that regard, I'm done with it.

    I was going to post some pics of these supposed "terrorists" that Israel is killing but decided they were far too graphic to just post with no warning.

    In the mean time I request your patience of my continued onslaught.
    What would constitute proof of good reception in your eyes? Perhaps look deeply into them instead of philosophy to answer. To answer will be to call out for it because the laundry is all hung out and waiting to be put on or put away.

    I'm sort of on edge now as this seems a spirited and fun personal challenge haven spoken up for motive. Will Darksugar turn out to posses reason as anyone does as I suggest. Or will your characterizations will out.

    Dammit just can't restrain my metaphorical meteoric rhetoric!
    I'm so full of it sometimes.

    It occurs to my recollection just now that leaving frustrated is as frustrating as being banned or having your comments deleted, frustration being what frustration is.

    The dead are all in common, dead. They are all somebodies children. No doubt this conflict is ill advised to the point of casualties.

    The simple acknowledgement that I did provide data and support, just as he requested, and that based on the evidence presented, that DS's initial premise;

    Has been shown to be wrong, and that a considerable amount of the Bible is historical fact

    Further that this remark;

    is again wrong as I do "know shit about shit" and can quite readily "argue with facts and references" and that what I presented can not be easily discredited as he claims.

    and that he acknowledge that I certainly did "come through" with the facts and evidence as requested

    He has done none of the above, quite the opposite. In the face of what I presented he clearly did a quick back-peddle to try and alter his position/statements.

    I have admitted to being wrong about things NUMEROUS times in these forums over the years, just hoping to see if others have the balls to do the same.

    Beyond that, there is no reason for me to conduct self-analysis over this, I am confident in my position as I was at the outset.
    Maybe it is Dark Sugar who should take a little look in the mirror and ask himself why he is so opposed to the concept that the Bible may right.

    It is much easier to simply dismiss it all as fantasy if a person feels in some manner that it indicts them, but that is much, much harder to do if presented with evidence of it's validity.

    "If the places, people and events in the Bible are historically correct, what about the teachings?"

    You got more than that.
    How has this honest request been denied you. I see you got several thumbs up.

    I think you both started off on your own individual paths of association Or have over reached into a cocktail of your separate pasts. Separate because of local attention but similar because every line is a construct for ongoing perception. However to have a future different from the past we make a different choice in the present.

    You have demonstrated yourself worthy in spite of all the things you have been accused of. What we can't find relief from is our own accusations against others and we expect payment in full because we feel justified speaking our terms. They seem right to us. However appearances must be weighed for accuracy with many samples Justice is a state of balance where nothing is owed one side to the other. The only verdict that does not leave payment owing is innocent, not guilty. And so, let us be without blame when we cast our stones, or pearls for justice or harmony among men.

    Of this last. I have known some children to be paralyzingly insecure and it may not be a matter of balls.

    And all these requirements are affecting in an ongoing manner how you perceive the world and also affect the content of this thread in general.

    You don't have to respond to me if you don't want to. What condition do you want to see in the world? Past mistakes or peace on earth? If it does not happen now it's not happening.

    Interesting question. Learning is taking some of what is old and some of what is new.

    I want to add that the bible presents itself historically factual by simply being a book.

    Ya know, it's really not about my being right or vindicated, it is about self imposed ignorance and denying evidence laid before a person.

    I have the same go 'round with my brother concerning alcohol vs marijuana and health issues related to them.
    "Marijuana is nasty and no way good for you, and no matter what you say I'm not gonna change my opinion." to quote my brother on the subject.

    I feel as if I just got the same response from DS.

    I just can not fathom people willingly remaining in ignorance.

    THAT is what really gets under my skin, willful ignorance, regardless of what the topic is.

    I'm not aware of what side you are taking and I don't even think it's all that important anyway. But I am interested in your comment of people remaining ignorant. I regard to religion and the bible, I think the answer is pretty obvious. Children are indoctrinated into their religious beliefs and then become incapable of escaping from it. I believe that is directly relative to the degree of indoctrination, however there could be some rare exceptions. Or, in other words, some extremely intelligent people will actually continue to adhere to the young earth theory. 6000 to 10,000 years old stuff!

    But to a different slant on the question: Why do so many people continue to see Israel on the side of right? Really, it's an honest question. WHY? I've actually pondered the notion that it could be in good part due to religious indoctrination but that doesn't seem to fully answer the question. It could also be in that some people upon hearing the word 'terrorist' or 'terrorism' are stricken by a kneejerk reaction to choose their side. And then there is the evoking of sympathy for the Jews because of what happened to them about 70 years ago? I know that's a factor because it's dredged up so frequently even today as we are discussing the current situation for the Palestinian people.

    Your ideas? Others ideas?

    All in the interest of answering your query on 'self imposed ignorance' or 'wilful ignorance' of course

    I cannot say I am taking any sides in this matter....
    Couldn't Israel have figured out a way to block the underground tunnels under the border with something on their side before becomming so aggressive?....or just bombed those tunnels on their side.....put the bombs in the tunnels from their side?....clearing people away first? Hamas isn't any better safely being underground and using the regular Palestine people as human shields in ths matter, either. These poor people have nowhere to go....
    Once again, the innocent are casualities..... between others' greed, want of control and power struggle....so now we have two hotspots that could worsen over time.....This and the Russian/Ukraine scenario......involving the world now....as they made a mistake and shot down a plane, not Ukranian.....which is just pure evilness...no matter who the plane belongs to.:(
