That's bullshit in my opinion. You tell yourself that so that you'll sleep better at night. Look at society today. Stand back and really look. Although obesity rates are on the rise, that doesn't account for the rest of the zombies. To say that overweight people are easier to control is just ignorant. It's false statements like that that make people point their fingers in the first place. What are "healthy adults and children" driven towards today? Money, fame, cars, houses, material garbage. 1) That isn't healthy 2) They're just as much part of the problem as anyone else. I'm sorry to say, but it sounds like you may have drank the punch. Celebrities and the media brainwash people of all sizes and ethnicities into buying their garbage and watching their shows. Do you watch television Hotwater? Do you give ratings to those vapid plastic people on tv? If so you contribute. It seems many here have skipped some good point that already been said in this thread. It's easy to blame another person or group of people for the way things are but it's YOUR own goddamn fault! You shop at Walmart, you watch television, you vote, you don't help your brothers and sisters, you point your fingers at others (I realise the delicious irony here believe me). Always passing shit on down to whoever you feel is below you on the social ladder. You know who's easy to control? Human beings. How about smokers, they need their cigarettes, alcoholics need their booze, artists need their paint, those who enjoy fitness need certain things, musicians need their instruments, drug users need their drugs, most people enjoy watching television, all human beings need food. So if you fall into any one of the above categories then quit pointing your goddamn fingers at other people. The problem is you. I'll repeat that, you are part of the problem. (I'm not referring to you specifically Hotwater) Most prefer to live in that ignorant bliss they get from flushing their brains down the toilet and turning on the tv. What do you see on tv? Beautiful people doing stupid things for millions of dollars. And people just sit there and clap like circus seals, watching these idiots perform. Meanwhile shit is being injected into your food, wars are being fought in your name, people are going hungry, and your brothers and sisters are fighting, and you don't give a shit because you don't want to miss Big Brother which comes on in half an hour. So you sit and point at the first thing that comes to mind, "Oh, I personally blame the overweight." There, problem solved, go back to your fucking tv and your snuggie. If you're ignorant enough to blame any one group in particular then go ahead. It only reflects poorly on your own intellect.
This makes me feel good....i dont shop at walmart, i dont watch reality tv. I dont even wear make-up! Yay I havent drank too much punch at this fucked up party!
Those are examples. It's the overall picture. So many just sit back and complain about the recession, the wars, the president, prime minister, foreign issues, our food, the state of the media, yet they just sit back and complain, complain. (Such as I'm doing now about them) People would rather sit and complain and blame because that's easier than taking actual, real accountability. All that bullshit they complain about could be changed if they really, genuinely cared. But they don't. They like their tv and their starbuks and their newspaper clipping watercooler conversations. It's easier that way. This is why many people didn't respect the hippies of the 1960's movement. Although they stood for good values, many just wanted to get high and have a good time, while others were trying to work for peace and change. The ones who just wanted to have fun became dead weight and were largely the ones being displayed in the media. Thus they were called lazy, stoners, etc. It's fine if one wants to have fun and have a good time. But they can't always expect to be taken seriously when shit gets serious. People today are more than willing to complain, but when it comes to actually doing something serious, most head for their couch or their television.
Do you eat? Then yes, YOU are part of the problem. Could you demand better from the FDA and food industry? As long as you consume resources, that makes you part of the issue. Not one single person is separate from the big picture.
My boyfriend is 19 years older than me and he put something into perspective while we were talking last night that I just never thought about.... when I was growing up in the 90's, I could choose any disney VHS and just pop it in the VCR and watch it over and over and over again...When he was growing up, if he wanted to watch a disney movie he had to go to the movie theater or wait for sunday disney theater. I have much more of a connection with certain media from when I was a child because it was so available to me. Its just crazy how things have changed. For the worst.
yes it does....all this means is you are just giving in to the corporate monarchy running America. That is if you are even from here.
Yes it does. I don't know how you can't see that. You and I are not separate, we are joined by atoms, brain waves, electricity, thoughts, and the metaphysical. You are not only my brother but you are me. When you go hungry I go hungry, when you die I die, when you laugh I laugh. Though it would seem that we are separated by a large distance and space. That space is but a minute in the overall space of things. There are years between planets, gaps between atoms, kilometers between you and I, but we are still all one thing. Don't settle for banality, and don't ignore the truth. As long as you live and breathe, you contribute to the whole picture.
Because I eat? How do you know what I eat? How do you know where I get my food? I am not to be faulted for merely existing, nor is anyone else. What makes you think you are able to judge the validity of the experience of another? If you truly believed all of the empty philosophical posturing that you preach, you'd speak from the heart rather than dancing in endless circles. Your words would be filled with compassion rather than accusation. You'd understand why people watch reality TV and why they shop at Walmart, and you'd love them for it.
how could you love someone for shopping at walmart.... walmart is the devil. I'm not attacking you NEo....I just gets to me that people are so ignorant about whos really running our country. people are sheep. sometimes it just gets to the point where you cant ignore it anymore. There is no way out though.
If you eat then you take up resources. Although there is enough to go around, this is still true. You are still part of the issue. See that's just it. We like to pretend that our problems are because of the politicians and leaders and wars. Really the problem is that no one seems to understand where the problem lies. Every movement, war, law, president elect starts with one single act. One act done by one single human being can change things once it snowballs. You can go ahead and blame politicians and world leaders if you like. I'm blaming us. It's them who poisons our food, puts innocent pot smokers in jail, allows war vets to go hungry and homeless, but what do we do about it? Most don't realise that people can do something about it. Have you ever wondered why someone like Hitler got into power? It was because he stood up. That's it. He wasn't special, he had no magical hold over people. Most people are simply unwilling to get their hands dirty. I never said their experience was less "valid", in whatever way valid is relevant to this discussion. What makes me feel that I'm able to say what I say? Because I'm human, because I feel like it, and because I'm sick of people bitching about select groups and leaders when really the problem is everybody. Of course I understand that there are people who go about their lives in a quiet and peaceful manner, not hurting anyone. But they are still part of the overall picture. Even though it may not sounds like it at this point, I really don't care what people do with their lives, if they want to eat, fine, smoke, fine, use drugs, fine. As I've said a few times now, I just think we need to stop being such hypocrites and blaming select groups because we're too afraid to admit that we are part of the problem. Why are you so afraid to admit this? You find it empty because you either don't agree with it, or you don't understand it. From where I'm sitting it makes perfect sense. The problem lies at your end of the computer, not mine. I know what I mean and I know what I say. Why do you assume if someone cared they would take on these attributes? Is it because of the Jesus archetype? Why does one have to be compassionate to try and get a message across? These traits are of your own imagination, they needn't belong to me. I don't need to love someone because they shop at walmart. Have you ever seen a parent scold their child? They're usually upset with the kid. It's love nonetheless. Poets, philosophers, scientists, and religious folks have been telling us in compassionate ways for thousands of years that we should respect and take care of one another. From what I've seen compassion hasn't worked. People don't listen because they think it's too dreamy.
That isn't an "issue". Cool, excessive over-simplifications of history. Oh I understand it. That's how I know your full of shit. A) Compassion is absolutely required when dealing with any other individual in a constructive way. This is why your message is empty. You lack true compassion, this thread is just a mental expression for you. A gust of air, a desire for clicks. B) When most parents "scold their children" it's out of emotional volatility or embarrassment, not a conscious expression of love. That trait is "of your own imagination". And your grand solution is to point fingers while criticizing people for pointing fingers. People don't exactly respond well to that either. Doesn't matter either way.
I'm probably just as much to blame, but its one thing to just live your life blindly then live and know the truth and try to avoid supporting things like wal-mart.
well youre not being very compassionate towards luna....hes just telling us how he feels about it....and so are you...
You understand it. So then you either don't want to take responsibility, or you truly believe that you're not an active part in the world. I won't argue with all of this. Some of it's right. I'm tired of using compassion where it isn't cared for. This thread is an expression, an expression of my distaste for hypocrites. I explained long ago that that's what this thread is. Nothing new here. As for 'I lack compassion.' It may seem that way because I deal with things in a way that seems cold. That doesn't mean I don't care. Everybody gets fed up once in awhile. I'm tired of people being ignorant and hurting others in the process. I still don't understand though neodude why exactly you're here. You've brought no views to the discussion (other than that you think I'm full of shit), no thoughts just criticism (which don't get me wrong, is welcome and I don't mind) I just don't understand for what purpose you're here. Would you like to weigh in? Or are you here to simply remind me that I'm full of shit? As I said, you are welcome either way.
