You know what would resolve the vegan/omnivore debate? Hotdog eating contest.

I personally have seen more verbal abuse directed at vegans/vegetarians from meat eaters, than I have seen it be the other way around...

You eat meat because you need substances it cointains. There are meat-eating eating animals, because they have all the substances their system needs. There are herbivores, which got all they need from plants.
    We need both.

You eat meat, because thats how you were created.

Animal killing topic is too big to be covered there.

#2 son has been vegan since he was 14 and he is now almost 32. He's 6'6"and works roofing and is very healthy. He puts a lot of thought into it so that it's done right. I don't recommend anyone give him a shove, tho. One might wake up later and wonder where their front teeth went.

I spend enough time caring about what I eat, much less bothering to care what the person beside me is eating.

    Eat and let Eat. :D

Vegan is used as a generalization. OP is assuming that all vegans are the same just like some might consider that all {insert race, nationality, gender, age group} are the same.

What I see in this thread is a bunch of people picking on vegans, I don't see any vegans picking on meat eaters.

There are people who can't eat meat or dairy(lots of people), there are diseases that are treated with a vegan diet. There are people who are bodybuilders, athletes, who gain healthy weight, lose weight if they need to, there are people who are very healthy and people who are not so healthy, on a vegan diet.

It is not more difficult to get nutrients on a vegan diet. It is important to eat a balanced diet whatever you're eating and to get several opinions and find good knowledgeable doctors/nutritionists. Don't just go after the opinion of one doctor or nutritionist, no matter what you're eating.

Also I think it's silly to assume that just because a doctor suggests that a deficiency can be cured by adding meat into the diet that this is true. For one thing you have to look at the tests done and how it is determined there is a deficiency...a lot of this information is faulty...on the otherhand you have to look at if there is a deficiency, why this is the case...it could be more than just what you eat...it could be in relation to a pre-existing condition, medicines taken, etc. and there's not really anything you can't get from produce that you need if taken in the appropriate quantities.

Also, taking nutrition advice from doctors is often a bad idea. Most doctors get little if any real nutrition education. Then you have to think about how long ago it was, what information has changed since then, who wrote the books they learned from (corporations with vested interests), etc. Ask them how they know what they know and find more information yourself.

I guess for the same reason a Christian would degrade a person who doesn't attend mass or believe in God. Morals.

The Vegans you may encounter may think and believe they are morally correct by not consuming meat (for either animal rights, global warming, healthier lifestyle, etc) and they wish and hope you would be too.

My best friend's a vegan and she won't say anything disrespectful when she sees someone eating meat - even to me. She's says it's your own personal choice and people should just get over it. She has no real urge to pressure or judge someone for what they eat.

That being said I think it really depends on the type of person you're dealing with.

Or because it's still socially acceptable to pick on them. Same with fat people and smokers. "Health issues" provides an excuse to perform acceptable prejudice.
