Why do hippies have long hair?

I dont have long hair... In fact I've been bald before. It really doesnt matter, Ive had Tom Petty looking hair and I have had Sublime looking buzz cuts, hippies dont need hair... BTW you know hair is dead right?

I have long hair. I think since short hair was what men were "supposed" to were, and long hair kinda said I don't care. The army had short too.

long hair is as nature intended.

 

when i am asked this question i tell them with a strait face, "because if i cut it i'll lose my super human strenth". If that doesn't satisfy them i usually follow up with "because your mom likes it that way".
the fact is that it just isn't any ones business but your own.
Grow it long. grow it proud.

 

I've always enjoyed having long hair; or 'Mop' as my teachers would say – still, I was always grateful to the old school tie (made a handy headband!)
I never felt the need to have long hair to be a Hippie. Long, Short, Bald - Dread, Spike, or Crew doesn't matter - Its about attitude and conviction, not dress and presentation.

I think that the stereotype image is engraved in the thoughts of the masses, in no small part to the depiction that comes from media coverage. One just has to think of fancy dress costumes where long hair is a necessary requirement but, so what.

Just a further point, I do recall Prince Charles being described as the "Hippie Prince" - (though I may be showing my age there) For, despite ridicule, he has long championed concern for the environment and advocated 'Defender of Faiths' - but he's not cool - doesn't have long hair. Hmm, maybe that’s his problem (?!)

I'm a hippie and I don't have long hair anymore. It throws off the man and lets me slip under the radar.

The Cat: I have got hair like yours. Just not on my head.

when i wore my hair long it was because i was really just too lazy to get it cut =/

 

LOL I've had long hair in the past because I was too poor to get a haircut and the home cut just wasn't going to "cut" it for me (no pun intended).

 

hippies have long hair because...well idk.

why cut it? scissors are a man made device thats only purpose is to rid you of the natural beauty that springs from your head flowing freely just like our thoughts.
