I'll go with the starter of this thread and say The Allman Brothers Band. Duane, Gregg, Dickey, Butch, Berry, Jaimoe, Lamarr, Chuck, Jack, Jimmy, Warren, Derek, Oteil, Allen, Marc, Johnny.
THere's lots more truly great bands I would list, but here's a few: * ICED EARTH, I don't listen to them as much anymore as I used to, or should... still, this is a great great great band, one of Earth's finest. I especially like the albums with a darker and heavier atmosphere ( Burnt offerings, Horror show ) over their more power-metal-ish albums ( The dark saga, Something wicked... ). But LIVE, that's when they are really convincing. I've had the honour to see them live the 19th of January 2002, a three hour setlist with Matt on vocals. It's still the best concert I've ever been to, and it was my first ever! I think however that Iced Earth without Matt Barlow is far inferior than with him. Matt is not replacable. * BEHEMOTH, since I bought their lates piece of art I love them even more... their oldies were good to very good black metal but now it's really AWESOME death metal, inspired and inspiring, with a general aura of individuality in both the music and the lyrics. They don't follow the rules of death metal, or any rules at all, and it only suits them. Splendid. I've seen them live but had to catch the last tram so missed most of it. * MARDUK, hyperblast black metal that just sounds exactly how I think it's supposed to sound. Relentless, unmerciful, sharp, melodic and in one word overwhelming. I'll be seeing them live in December. Wish me luck. * ALANIS MORISSETTE, my favourite non-metal artist, having a tiny bit too much filler on all her albums but her good songs are genious. She's got a great voice and she's a great lyrics writer, I love it how she talks about her own personal life, and her flaws and uses them to teach people to take care of their own flaws. Plus, her songs are sooo delicious to sing along to. * MY DYING BRIDE, I have to agree that I loathe a complete album of theirs with the exception of one song ( The angel and the dark river, the excepted song is The cry of mankind ), but they are so pleasantly desperate, I love the way they can make bad feelings feel nice. You've got to love Aaron Stainthorpe, if Jesus would look like that I'd marry him, and the deperate pleading vocals and deathgrunts he does sound great. Saw them live too, oh I've seen / will see so much of my fave bands live!! ^_^ *über-happy*
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are the best band. All the other bands that y'all have listed are nowhere near as talented.
Im sorry your all wrong*, the answer is Led Zeppelin. *disclaimer: everyone is wrong except those who stated the correct answer, Led Zeppelin.
o0o0o...according to Duckandmiss, I stated the correct answer. ...but I'm gonna add Pink Floyd & The Who to the bunch.
These last few weeks my personal preference has been Blind Melon by far, but I've also really been loving Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, the Jimi Hendrix bands, Moby Grape, and The Who.
i should beat you all with a stick! the best band of all time is tool! then theres pink floyd. and you cant forget nirvana either
If you seriously consider Nirvana to be the best ( or one of the best ) bands ever you have picked your username wisely.
