colts have been slipping whenever they play somebody with a good offense. Plus, dungys loss has got to be having some kind of effect on em. Thats crazy

So our Steelers (the three of us who've spoken up about liking them) pulled it out and made the playoffs (as did the Redskins). But they're seeded 6th. History, for what it's worth, is not on their side (nor is it on the side of the three other 5 and 6 seeds). I've been hearing the numbers below for a couple weeks now. This is from Don Banks on si.com:

    • The Jaguars, Steelers, Panthers and Redskins are in the playoffs, but don't look for them in the Super Bowl on Feb. 5 in Detroit. Fifth and sixth seeds just don't make the Big Dance. And you can look it up.

There have been 180 playoff teams in the 15 seasons since the NFL went to a 12-team playoff format (1990-2004). Of those 30 Super Bowl slots, 25 of them have been claimed by either first or second seeds, who get a first-round bye and a divisional-round home game. The other five Super berths were won by either a No. 3 seed (once, Carolina in 2003), or a No. 4 (four times, notably by Denver in 1997 and Baltimore in 2000, when both were wild-card entries that got a first-round home game in the old six-division alignment).

A fifth or sixth seed has never made it to the Super Bowl in the 12-team format, and only two (1995 Colts and 1996 Jaguars) even stayed alive to the conference championship round. That's why the Jaguars, Steelers, Panthers and Redskins are going to have to buck history to make history.

Cincy just doesnt have a solid enough D to make it all the way to the bowl in my opinion. You need balance to beat the best teams, and Cincy is gonna have to get lucky in a shootout vs. the teams they play deep in the playoffs. I think its gonna be Pittsburgh vs. either NYG or the Bucs in the supa bowl. Im taking a long shot with Tampa but that no.1 Defense cant be overlooked.

while i never care too much who wins.i like the playoffs.ithink the superbowl has become too much media hype.american professional football has had declared champions going back almost 100 years and the colleges even furthur.......forty years ago this weekend joe namath quarterbacked the new york jets in the championship win over the baltimore colts.i think sports were funner to watch on t.v.in those days..........who will win this year?i don't know there's already been some upsets.

Ive had 2 season tickets for Giant games since 1976 , the year the Meadowlands opened. Went to Yankee Stadium, The Yale Bowl, and then Shea before it opened- with my Dad and his brothers /cousins etc... The tailgating became a big tradition, and although my Dad has passed away I do still go a few times a year .
Im going to the Philly game Sunday- hoping they can make another run at the S-B

    Gotta believe

good luck to everyone's favorites.growing up in the midwest most of us kids could only dream of sitting in those stadiums and watching the greats in action.of course there was t.v but the coverage wasn't like it is now.baseball was just one game a week.the game of the week.otherwise i followed the seasons from the newspapers.and radio.caught the scores on t.v. news etc.in short you got some great tickets there.....too bad about yankee stadium coming down .i don't get it but i never really got the details.why ny wouldn't leave it up as an historic site?but i'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to make.........the yale bowl may stand for many years to come....the polo grounds must have been interesting too.and all the other stadiums there's been......on another thread it was asked where we would like to travel.my answer was to see some of the old sports stadiums.
