first of all i didnt say all pit bulls are like this but most are. why dont we get that scare off of peoples minds and just keep them as guard dogs? its not completely banning them just as house dogs.

and again we do ban humans. jail or chair. and i bet in prison, any prisoner finds out they "ripped a kid in half" is going to get killed in there. so its what ever.

ill pet the stupid pit bull but ill never own one. i just dont trust them, and thats what others are saying.

    rotties are better anyways

as a pizza guy in the hood, I encounter lots of dogs. Many of these people have no business owning the breeds they own. When I can smell the shit stank coming from a house half a block away, and their lawn is bare dirt, and all the screens are busted out, and I knock on the door and six dogs start raising hell, you have too many fucking dogs. Seriously, what's the point?

It also seems that in the hood at least half of the dogs are pit bulls and the other half are random breeds. When I deliver in the suburbs, I rarely encounter a dog that is intimidating.

Aw man, now I can't respond without proving you right, cause that's what you said I'd do! Damnit, you got me again! Clever suburban girls and their flawless logic. There's no pinning you down.

As soon as someone thinks they won a argument you'll just flabbergast them saying retarded shit like that. Real smooth, I could learn from you.

Dogs are pack animals and you must be the leader. If they have any doubt about your ability to provide/manage the pack they will take over. Any dog. People don't realize how strongly this pack order is and that's where they go wrong. You can't just bring in some small, crying thing and give it all your attention and expect your dog to know whats going on. In all honesty, your dog should not even be let around your child. The dog has to understand that it is on a lower level of the pack. If it is allowed to act normaly around the child it will think the child is a lower pack member.

You should also educate your children on how to act around your dog and strange dogs. Never run.. dogs have a natural prey drive and will more than likely chase and take down. It's in their blood. Do not look a dog in the eyes.. this is a challenge and if they are not aware of the childs order in the pack they will attack. There's many other things to teach your children, but I won't go into all of that.

Pit bulls have gotten a bad name that they don't deserve. Of course you have more attacks by these types of dogs because more people own them. Not to mention that they lump many types of dogs under the pitt bull category.

As a responsible dog owner you must teach your dog. You should be able to control your dog in any situation. If you take time to train your dog you will be able to do this. If your dog cannot be called down while in high prey drive you should never, ever let them off leash and/or out of your control.

As a dog enthusiast I have had many, many different breeds and pit bulls have proven themselves time and again. They are loyal, strong, loving and hard working dogs. These dogs are NOT meant to be apartment dogs. They need a purpose and a job to do. They were bred to pull down bulls on drives and will die for a word of praise from their masters.

You MUST, at all times, remind your dog of their place in your family.

Here's a picture of my companion as of now. You can be sure that I will be protected.. and he as well.

I tell him that all the time. He's amazing. So smart, so loving. Very protective. Even though he is very well trained I realize that he is dangerous and take proper measures to ensure the safety of others.

I love that big dufus so much.

Exactly... I am trying to train our pitbull, but my boyfriend did not train her at all for the first several years he had her when I wasn't around and so it has been an uphill job... so in the meantime, if she is around other people we make sure she is on a leash. There is no sense in taking chances.

But anyway, I agree with everything you said.

It takes time and patience and love. Once your dog sees you as his leader and knows you will protect him from any harm things will go a lot smoother. It's good that you are taking the time to work with your dog. Keep it going.. she'll get it. Females are also bitchy, in any race, as most of us know. Sometimes it's good for them to have a litter of pups to calm their bitch ass down, if your dog is hyper that is. This doesn't work as well in people, so don't suggest your bitchy sister have a whole load of babies that my tax dollars will pay for, right.

A lot of dogs own their 'master'. I have a neighbor whose dog manipulates her every day by purposely running away when she calls him. The lady wanders all over trying to find her dog and yelling at the top of her lungs. She goes through this routine every day. The dog is smarter than she is.

It doesn't take a huge investment to train a dog to a reasonable level. It makes life a lot easier.
