wish i could play keyboards or something to put behind music like this. i find myself enjoying slower instrumental music when im fucked up haha, music feels so organic when youre playing it yourself

I'm learning guitar, although I don't think its really my instrument..I cannot keep rhythm with my wrist for whatever reason. I jammed on bass the other night and really enjoyed that, i'm going to learn so i can start playing with a couple of my friends. I tried playing drums a couple of times and could keep a rhythm but i dont have a drum set to practice on...however, i havent found another instrument that gives me the same kind of high that playing drums gives me. I really want to get a keyboard so i can start doing some really psychedelic stuff....I dont know how to play any instrument well, and i'm real ADD so I hop around from instrument to instrument lol....i just like to pick up anything and jam with my friends. music is life.

i play trombone and i know how to convert the fingerings to trumpet, baritone, tuba, french horn (when holding down the 4th key), etc. oh and i can play the didjeridoo (however u spell it haha)
i know piano basics but i can't play very well and can barely read the music.
i actually know basics for pretty much all instruments except fingerings for clarinet, flute, violin, sax, etc.

I play the piano, but really only classical, but very into that :) 90% of my repetoire is Chopin! haha <3 for life

cello would be my #2 . . . the sound is incomparable, every note weeps

Bass guitar would be #3  too cool

I can play the spoons

I used to play the piano, but quit.. and I have a harmonica which I have been wanting to try for like 2 years now, but never really got into it :( My boyfriend is a god on the guitar, so I just listen to him jam out.

the other day, i started reading this thread and stopped not even halfway through to pick up an instrument and start playing. couldnt even contain the energy. super fun!

so now i finally finished the thread and know what i'm going to do as soon as i finish this post....

anyways, i played the baritone (and euphonium and valve trombone) for about 6 years then moved on to tuba and sousaphone for about 7 years. i played regularly for around 13 years total. the last few years were playing sousaphone in a University marching band. smoking weed before rehersals definitely helped...

i also played guitar for the better part of 7 years or so (classical, acoustic and electric), but kinda stopped after a while. i eventually picked up the banjo and then later the banjolele (combo. of a ukulele and banjo), which i predominantely play now. still keep my guitars and banjo out and accessable, but totally just go to town on the banjolele. it's SO MUCH fun! it's really playing the ukulele (fingerings) but also being able to have the banjo soul come through along with it.

moving from guitar-->banjo-->banjolele makes a lot of sense regarding how they're strung and somewhat how they're played. the chord changes also make sense, too. for instance, if you know how to go from G to a G7 on guitar, then you know how to go from D to D7 on the ukulele. the chord shapes are the exact same.

i play pretty much every day unless i'm extra busy or something. the banjolele also got me singing, as well, which i've definitely improved on. playing with other people is the best thing you can do to make yourself a better musician and singer. the banjolele also works really well in a full-group set-up, especially with other mandolins and/or ukuleles. they complement eachother well.

i totally need to stop typing this and pick that li'l sucker up!
