-ani difranco -gwen stefani (the older stuff) -alanis morisette -the singer of tsunami bomb--whoever she is
my favorite voice is maja from the sounds, cuase you can hear all the gruffness [sp] and emotion in it. lauryn hill is really good too, her voice is really thick and smooth. norah jones isn't half bad either, shes got a nice coo-ing voice.
Janis Joplin (in a league of her own) then: Natalie Merchant (both in 10000 Maniacs and her solo work) Ambrosia Parsley (Shivaree) Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac) Margo Timmins (Cowboy Junkies) Nico (Velvet Underground) Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes) Emmylou Harris
hmmm.... I dont know *cries* there are so many men in the industry, we forget the women. I like Gwen Stefani's stlye of singing. and yea, Grace Slick. and Siouxie Siou oh I know... The Chick from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs .... ahh Maps... my favorite

Ohh, stupid me! I forgot to mention Nico before! :& Ugh, what was I thinking?! Nico is great! Not bad looking either...
Nico? hahaha hahahaha haha sorry. tehehe all the stuff she did with the Velvet Underground is awful! I mean shes still (was) cool but I dont agree that here singing voice was "good"
I like her voice, actually. It's kind of different I guess. I especially like "All Tomorrow's Parties." Besides, she was a 60s icon whether or not her voice was that good. She was a hip chick!
I love all the singers in this list!! Gwen steffani is amazing! and her husband Gavin Rossdale is FINE!!! lucky bitch!! lol I love Tsunami Bomb too and the woman is Known as Agent M ( wierd as that may sound) but her real name is Emily, and i dont know her surname. peace and love xxxx
