you gotta dig chuck berry and scotty moore. They were like two of the first guitar heroes of rock and roll. They dont seem impressive because they didnt have any crazy effects and dint shred like crazy but they were prety good. But Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix are tied for 1st with Eric Clapton. Oh and Randy Rhoads and Eddy Van Halen. Stevie Ray Vaughn is good. And Slash, Keith Richards, Joe Perry, oh that guy in Lynyrd Skynyrd. Steve somebody i think.... , Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

thread's 13 pages long and only one person has mentioned eddy van halen? tsk tsk, ladies and gentlemen!keeping with late 70s and early 80s, and almost eddy's equal, i'd have to throw steve vai out there too.

If Rock and Roll would be called by any other name, it would be called "Chuck Berry".

Jimi Hendrix is really the only choice here.
