I come from poor roots. But my family was "clean poor"...they were decent, honest people who just didn't have much money. I suppose we are middle class....we own a house, a car and I stay home with the kids. But we work for it all...we do without a lot and live quite plainly to have all this. I don't bother with that "keeping up with the Jones' " crap.... I see welfare people with the latest clothes on their kids that could have fed them for a week if they'd used their money properly. Then they sit there and wonder why they don't have anything. I don't throw my money away. I'm not stingy, but I don't give away what I don't have.
yeah but I've seen people who go on welfare just for foodstamps & medical benifits...not the cash part of welfare. If they want cash, they collect cans & other metals, will do lawn work around the neighborhood or babysit for neighbors. As long as their own family has food & can get medical care...they are quite happy in their lifestyle. Even though they ain't got all the fancy stuff that all their neighbors have.
Starting to read through this thread and this really stood out. A friend of mine is (well, technically, was) a homeless refugee without a stay permit in my country.. very honest guy, didn't steel or anything.. had very very little money, but the little he had he always shared with other people.. like helping out another homeless guys or donating a bit on Fridays at the Mosque.. stuff like that. I can hardly begin to describe the amount of respect I have for him.. he is one of the most honourable people I know, even though (or maybe because) all the hardship he's been through and still faces...
Define poor?? i have never looked at poor as a monatary equated word.... ive always equalled folks who consider themselves poor with those that dont know how to live within there means.. Those that cant be satisfied an feel blessed with what they got so they seek a label.. "poor",, nope aint poor,, im blessed,,...
I'm a bit poor, but I'm 20 and going to school, I figure I'll be aight. If nothing else, I'm only poor when it comes to money. ... And moral fiber, and decency... The point is, I have a sweet ass. And nothing besides a horrible pants fire could take that away from me. Anyway, I wanna do humanitarian work after I graduate, so I'll probably always be poor.
if your are materialistic your never rich enough. i never was = but only with certain fun toys. street bikes, dirt bikes, Jetskis,Boating,Scuba diving, a few other i could really get my bang for the money. a $6 million dollar home dont do anything for me.
