Anyone seen The Tonto Woman? What a load of shit that is. It's pretty nice cinematographics though, sadly the script and acting is quite bad in some places. And what's that stupid thing on her chin? Glad it didn't win. Sorry that Madam Tutli Putli lost out to Peter and the Wolf in the short animated film category though.
I didnt have an oscar party, I worked last night, but caught some of the awards..... muted... there was more than one person who told me that I need to see no country for old men, when I found out it was a coen brothers movie, I just knew I had to see it. every movie I have seen of theirs I enjoyed... (raising arizona, fargo, the big lebowski, oh brother where art thou, bad santa)
I hated No Country for Old Men. No character development to speak of, and the plot seemed completely random and illogical. To put it succinctly, the movie had no point. The ending was lame too; if I were the Coen Bros. I probably would have changed it from the book's ending.
There Will Be Blood was by far and away the best movie of the year IMO. Nothing else really came close. Juno was really good too, I'd put it solidly in 2nd place for the year.
I didn't see There Will Be Blood, but I wish I had... I thought Juno was absolutely brilliant and was happy to see that it was nominated for as much as it was...and even MORE happy that it won best original screenplay!
I read the book by Cormac McCarthy this year, and then went to see the film. Every line from the film was essentially word for word from the book. It was a fantastic film, but an even better book. I won't spoil anything here - but it's worth reading/viewing.
I kind of really liked the ending...I mean it seemed a bit cheap, but at least it was realistic and final. Good movie, overall, but didn't seem best of the year to me. Not that it wasn't better than the rest, but just not something I would call a best movie of a year. But it was very original!
