I've had tractor trailers pass me on the berm of a two lane road in Boston and a dually Ram pick-up doing over 80 mph use an off ramp to pass me when I was in the slow lane of the DC Beltway.

I know a dude that was driving in Baltimore one time and trying to read a map. He realized he was in the wrong lane and swerved into another lane cutting off this car. Then the car sped up beside him and some guy in this military hat started yelling at him and foaming at the mouth.
Then the guy cuts him off and forces him off the road and this dude jumps out and starts coming over to him. So he gets out off his car and all of a sudden all these cop cars show up, the cops jump out and grab this guy and start pulling him away cause it looks like he's going to kill my friend.
Then this one cop comes over to my friend and my friend says, "What's wrong with that guy?" And the cop sez "That's the Baltimore chief of police." "You really shouldn't cut him off, he doesn't like that."

They let him go and told him not to come back.

Somewhere recently I read that Atlanta's drivers exceed the speed limit more than other cities.

Simply look up the statistics. Washington DC is worse than any state. I am not sure what states come after DC as far as "worst". But I know as far as cities, DC is horrible, the worst. Right behind are some of the other cities just outside DC like Arlington and Alexandria (Virginia) ranking in the top 10 worst cities.

When I first started learning to drive, I drove 4 hours down to New York City each day to experience rush hour traffic in Midtown Manhattan - I just wanted to learn from the best or worst depending on your point of view

You should have driven further south to Washington DC and then a little more to "NoVa" (Northern Virginia). I've met a few New Yorkers down here who, generally say "Yah, we are some of the worst drivers (they admit it) BUT dc is worse.

I live in SC and the drivers are kind of shitty here. They're generally courteous, but sometimes overly courteous to the point where it interrupts the flow of traffic. No one seems to understand the concept of a four way stop. And anytime you're in a hurry you get stuck behind someone out for a leisurely drive.

Of course no one, including me, knows how to drive in winter weather but that's to be expected.

There are some rude drivers too. I notice a lot of tail gating which is my biggest pet peeve.

There are a lot of northern transplants in my town and also a lot of German and French so I don't really know if its the natives or the out of towners who are the bad drivers.

California is defiantly not number one. Neither is Texas. Both have awful drivers.

Although probably really small places have it the worst. Middle of nowhere Kansas people let their blind uncles drive when nobody is watching.

and that's because everyone is always coming here from different states (I'm referring to the Los angeles area, btw) =p
I don't think it's the California natives that are bad drivers..
