sometimes the op, sometimes the most recent. sometimes they're all i'll read before being inspired to post a response. often its just to the thread title, even if its really about something else, because if that didn't interest me, i wouldn't have clicked on it, unless just to be curious. so if i seem to make no sense, its based on whatever kind of sense i can make out of one of the three. of course if it really interests me, or if i'm really super curious, and i actually read the last post first, then i'll read the one before that, and back through to try and figure out what the last post was talking about, which isn't always entirely obvious to me.
there are basically two and a half ways to be unambiguously explicit. one is to use so many small words no one has the time to read them, or use a minimum of words that just happen to be uncommon enough for most people to have no idea what you mean by them. it is only by rare fortunate accident, that a small number of small words can make a true and accurate statement, but a lot of clever sounding bullshit can easily be stated that way.
yeah, that's why i don't post in the chat threads. if there's more than two pages to catch up on, i'm probably not going to take the time.
When a thread gets beyond 4 pages, and I'm viewing it for the first time, I'll usually just read the OP, power-skim through a select few pages, then the few posts at the end.
I have a bad habit of reading old threads, and replying to the OP without reading through the entire thread to see if the problem the OP was having, has been resolved. And then my advice looks stupid if in fact, the person resolved their problem. Maybe I'll make this a New Year's resolution.
i don't know, some of those threads can generate two pages in a couple hours. there have been several times i wanted to reply to a post from earlier in the same day, but i didn't bother because 2 or 3 pages of posts had popped up since then. as often as i get on here, i consider anything in the last 48 hours to be "right now".
Depends on the thread. I usually just skim shit these days. Can't be bothered to thoroughly read people's uninformed opinions. HA!
One person's threads I always read are Orison's. He has a way with words and not all this cookie cutter shit.
